Cheiron recently raised an $8M seed round led by Menlo Ventures, and now has $13M total raised. The round also included strategic support from Moderna co-founder Robert Langer, former Pfizer Chief Medical Officer Freda Lewis-Hall, Chai Discovery co-founder and CEO Josh Meier, former Starbucks CEO Laxman Narasimhan, and former Apple AI chief John Giannandrea.

Cheiron is building the first AI-native operating system designed to represent an entire drug program as a single connected system. The platform helps biopharma teams represent, reason over, and stress-test the claims, evidence, decisions, and commitments, driving the drug program to completion.

Our General Internship is for applicants who can make a meaningful contribution outside the roles listed on our careers page. You might bring expertise in an area we haven’t hired for yet, combine skills across disciplines, or see an important problem you’re particularly well equipped to solve.

We’re looking for a clear proposal: what role you could serve, why Cheiron needs it, and what you could accomplish during your internship. If there’s a strong fit, we’ll work with you to define a focused scope with concrete deliverables.

• Identify a specific problem or opportunity where your skills can help Cheiron.

• Work with the relevant team to define priorities, deliverables, and measures of success.

• Own a project from initial investigation through execution and handoff.

• Seek feedback, communicate progress clearly, and adapt as you learn.

• Deliver work that the team can use and build on after your internship.

• Relevant skills demonstrated through projects, research, previous work, or other substantive experience.

• A thoughtful understanding of Cheiron and a convincing case for your proposed contribution.

• Evidence of personal ownership: you can explain what you did, the decisions you made, and the results.

• Initiative, sound judgment, and the ability to make progress on an unfamiliar or loosely defined problem.

• Clear communication and a willingness to work closely with people across disciplines.

We welcome applicants from a wide range of academic and professional backgrounds. Technical expertise is relevant where your proposed work requires it; there is no single required major or skill set.

$35–$55 per hour. Exact compensation within the range depends on demonstrated expertise, relevant experience, and the time the student can commit.

This internship is based in our Los Altos, CA office and requires fully in-person work. Semester or quarter interns must be available for at least 20 hours per week; summer interns should be available full time.

Relocation support may be available on a case-by-case basis. We consider candidates with different immigration and work-authorization circumstances where lawful employment is possible.

The interview process will be tailored to your proposed contribution and may include a discussion of past work, a practical exercise, and conversations with the relevant team.
