What You Will DoAs a School-Year Marketing & Communications Intern, you will support the promotion of IALR's programs, initiatives, and impact through storytelling, content creation, and communications support. You will gain hands-on experience helping communicate technical, scientific, workforce, and educational initiatives to a variety of audiences.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reporting on activities, events, STEM programs, camps, research projects, and other technical initiatives across IALR.
- Assisting with photography and videography projects.
- Supporting facility tours with a focus on STEM-related activities and laboratory spaces.
- Assisting with technical writing and content development.
- Maintaining and updating website content.
- Supporting graphic design projects.
- Researching technical journals and industry publications.
- Collecting and analyzing website and social media metrics.
- Assisting with other marketing and communications projects as assigned.
How You Will Help the Team
You will help the Marketing & Communications team showcase the work and impact of IALR by creating compelling content, supporting outreach efforts, and ensuring information is communicated clearly and effectively. Your contributions will help increase awareness of IALR's programs, research, workforce initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
Schedule
Up to 28 hours per week, Monday through Thursday (8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch) from September 2026 through April 2027. This is a part-time position and is not eligible for benefits.

Your Knowledge and Expertise
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from an associate or bachelor's degree program.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent grammar and attention to detail.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) style.
- Basic knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign and Photoshop.
- Basic knowledge of WordPress or other website content management systems.
- Interest in STEM, research, technology, workforce development, or related fields.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to move throughout IALR facilities and event locations.
- Light physical activity may be required, including lifting up to 10 pounds occasionally.
