THE OPPORTUNITY
Ecora is looking for an Intermediate to Senior Environmental Professional to join the expanding Environmental Services team on a permanent full-time basis. The ideal candidate will be seeking an opportunity to step into a technical leadership role and take on complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
Ecora is committed to creating and delivering exceptional quality services to our valued clients and has extensive experience delivering a range of ecological inventories and assessments, preparing environmental and sustainable resource management plans, conducting third party reviews of development applications, and developing comprehensive assessments of environmental effects. Ecora provides consulting services to provincial government, municipalities, First Nation communities, resource industry companies, architects, developers, and contracting firms throughout British Columbia.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Project management including managing and coordinating teams with diverse backgrounds.
- Independently complete all stages of environmental studies and assessments, including proposal, workplans, field data collection, interpretation/analysis, and reporting.
- Comfortable conducting fieldwork in remote locations and around water.
- Coordinate completion and submission of permits, authorizations, and approvals.
- Plan and complete terrestrial and aquatic field studies, habitat assessments, and biophysical inventories.
- Provide a leadership role in a growing environmental team and mentor junior to intermediate personnel.
- Liaise with regulators and maintain strong client communications.
- Provide environmental management and mitigation guidance for proponent designs and planning.
- Deliver exceptional products on time and on budget.
- Represent Ecora in a respectful and responsible manner.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Professional designation in BC (R.P. Bio or equivalent).
- A minimum of five years of professional work experience including project management, fieldwork, data analysis, and reporting.
- Experience with the BC regulations and conducting assessments pursuant to permitting requirements at various levels of government (municipal, provincial, federal).
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Highly organized and able to manage and prioritize a dynamic work schedule.
- Possess a strong work ethic with the desire to excel and achieve.
- Excellent written and communication skills and experience using MS Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Teams, etc.) as well as digital data collection tools.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and other relevant safety or technical training to competently conduct the work described above (e.g., first aid, electrofishing, boating, swift water).
- Experience or strong interest in working with a diverse client base including First Nations, government, and industry.
- Preference will be given to applicants with a background in Terrestrial, Aquatics, or fisheries.
