Intermediate Phase Educator
Lion Pride Academy is looking to appoint an Intermediate Phase Educator to commence duties on 1 January 2027.

The Intermediate Phase Educator at Lion Pride Academy plays a critical role in developing strong academic foundations while guiding learners towards greater independence, responsibility, confidence, and critical thinking. The educator is responsible for delivering engaging, CAPS-aligned learning experiences that challenge learners academically while supporting their social, emotional, and personal development.
The ideal candidate demonstrates excellence in curriculum delivery, assessment, classroom management, and differentiated teaching. We are looking for an inspiring and versatile Intermediate Phase Teacher to join our academic team. This position is ideal for a passionate educator who is committed to academic excellence and enjoys creating an engaging classroom environment where learners are encouraged to question, explore, collaborate, and take ownership of their learning.
Intermediate Phase Teacher responsibilities are:
Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging, CAPS-aligned lessons appropriate to Grades 4–6.
- Ensure effective coverage of curriculum content and achievement of learning outcomes.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Integrate technology, creativity, problem-solving, and real-world applications into learning.
- Promote critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and entrepreneurial thinking.
Learner Assessment and Support
- Design and implement formal and informal assessments in accordance with school and CAPS requirements.
- Monitor learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback.
- Identify learners requiring additional academic support and implement appropriate interventions.
- Differentiate instruction to meet individual learner needs.
- Maintain accurate assessment records and learner portfolios.
Classroom Management
- Establish a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Maintain high standards of discipline, behaviour, respect, and academic effort.
- Encourage learner responsibility, independence, resilience, and a growth mindset.
- Promote positive relationships and a strong sense of classroom community.
Parental and Community Engagement
- Communicate professionally and regularly with parents regarding learner progress and development.
- Participate actively in parent meetings, school events, projects, and extracurricular activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and support staff to promote learner success.
Professional Development
- Participate in school-based professional development and collaborative planning.
- Engage in reflective practice and continuous improvement.
- Remain informed about curriculum developments, educational technology, and effective teaching practices.
Intermediate Phase Teacher requirements are:
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) specialising in Intermediate Phase OR a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in Intermediate Phase.
- Current SACE registration and police clearance certificate.
- Sound knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and Intermediate Phase teaching methodologies.
- Strong assessment, planning, differentiation, and classroom management skills.
- Technologically literate with the ability to integrate digital tools into teaching and learning.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Energetic, organised, reliable, and passionate about learner development.
- A commitment to academic excellence, character formation, and the Lion Pride Academy vision.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Education specialising in Intermediate Phase, or a relevant degree with a PGCE specialising in Intermediate Phase
