The Opportunity:
Intermediate Architect (Sustainability) for Perkins Eastman Architects DPC to work at our Philadelphia, PA location. May telecommute up to one day per week. Coordinate sustainability goals, and create project designs and plans for all phases of major projects of complexity.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop new or improved techniques and procedures.
- Coordinate building design consultants while monitoring drawings.
- Develop and represent lead technical viewpoint on projects.
- Coordinate with Project Leadership on technical solutions and product strategies.
- Manage projects and lead team in developing aesthetic design and preparation of architectural design including drawings and specs.
- Collaborate with or serve as Project Architect for design and detailing of project.
- Develop working process with team to ensure design intent of project is maintained for duration.
- Coordinate work of design consultants, and serve as liaison with PM, other Architects and consultants.
- Meet with clients and do design presentations.
- Coordinate with relevant regulatory/governmental authorities to achieve entitlement approvals for zoning and building.
- Coordinate all trades and agencies related to building design during construction.
- Coordinate sustainability goals, using effective organization and communication skills.
- Lead on BIM 360 to support firmwide initiatives, and manage (including initial setup, drawing and modeling) complex multi-discipline design projects.
- Support construction administration and develop construction documents.
- Mentor junior staff.
- Limited domestic travel (2 days/month) to client sites involved.
Required Qualifications:
- Must have Master of Architecture, 4 years relevant architectural design experience, and required skills.
- In the alternative, must have Bachelor of Architecture, 6 years relevant architectural design experience, and required skills.
- Required skills (4 years exp) in sustainable design; (2 years exp) in design and documentation of mixed-use Multifamily projects; construction administration project phase (incl submittal review, RFI investigation and response, and site observation); building and practice area codes (incl IBC, NFPA 101, ANSI, ADA, FHA and BOMA guidelines) and (1 year exp) in coordinating with relevant regulatory/gov authorities to achieve entitlement approvals related to zoning and building; energy modeling; AutoCAD, Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Cove Tool, MS Office Suite, Newforma Project Center, Sketch-up, Lumion, Enscape, In-design, Illustrator, and Bluebeam.
Skills Required
- Master of Architecture with 4 years relevant architectural design experience (alternative: Bachelor of Architecture with 6 years)
- 4 years experience in sustainable design
- 2 years experience in design and documentation of mixed-use multifamily projects
- Experience in construction administration (submittal review, RFI investigation and response, site observation)
- Knowledge of building and practice area codes (IBC, NFPA 101, ANSI, ADA, FHA, BOMA)
- 1 year experience coordinating with regulatory/government authorities for zoning and building entitlement approvals
- Experience with energy modeling
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Proficiency in Revit
- Experience with Autodesk Construction Cloud / BIM 360
- Experience with Cove Tool
- Familiarity with MS Office Suite and Newforma Project Center
- Proficiency with SketchUp, Lumion, and Enscape
