Job Description
A vacancy exists for an Intermediate Actuarial Specialist within Old Mutual Corporate. The primary purpose of the role is to support the development, maintenance and operational delivery of the Corporate Segment’s pricing infrastructure, automation solutions and governance processes.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Pricing Infrastructure and Senior Actuarial Specialists to build, maintain, test and support pricing systems and operational capabilities that enable efficient and well-controlled pricing operations.
The role combines actuarial insight with strong technical, analytical and operational skills. The incumbent will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of pricing infrastructure through the development of technical solutions, operational support, automation, testing and governance activities.
Key Result Areas
1. Pricing Infrastructure Development and Support
Develop, maintain and support existing pricing infrastructure and related systems.
Assist with the enhancement of the Online Risk quotation platform.
Support the maintenance and enhancement of experience-rated pricing tools.
Build and maintain pricing-related automation solutions and system integrations.
Assist with the migration of Excel-based models to more scalable technology platforms.
Perform testing, validation and implementation activities for new developments and enhancements.
Maintain technical and operational documentation for pricing infrastructure.
Provide technical support to pricing system users and assist in resolving operational issues.
Investigate and resolve issues within pricing systems, automation solutions and operational processes.
2. Automation and Operational Enablement
Develop and maintain automation solutions supporting pricing operations and bulk review processes.
Assist with the implementation of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies within pricing operations.
Assist with the development of scalable and efficient pricing operational processes.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving operational efficiency.
3. Governance, Controls and Quality Assurance
Support the maintenance of pricing governance frameworks, standards and documentation.
Assist with testing, validation and quality assurance activities.
Produce governance evidence and documentation required for model and infrastructure sign-off.
Support risk identification, issue resolution and control monitoring activities.
Contribute towards audit preparation and governance reporting.
Qualifications and Experience
A minimum of nine actuarial exam credits
2–5 years of relevant experience in actuarial, pricing, technology, automation or operations-related roles.
Experience in pricing operations, actuarial modelling, process automation or solution development will be advantageous.
Experience within Group Risk pricing will be advantageous.
Technical Skills
The successful candidate should demonstrate strong analytical, technical and problem-solving capabilities, including:
Advanced Microsoft Office, Microsoft 365, Excel and VBA skills.
Experience with Python and/or C# development would be advantageous.
Experience with, or a strong interest in, the Microsoft Power Platform, including Power BI, Power Automate and Copilot Studio.
Ability to analyse and resolve technical issues.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to manage multiple deliverables and consistently meet agreed timelines.
Ability to work independently while seeking appropriate guidance and support when required.
Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Please note that appointments may be made at a lower role size depending on the successful candidate's experience and actuarial examination progress.

Skills Required
