The Role
The Integrity Algorithms Engineer will design, develop, and validate integrity algorithms for a safety-critical GNSS positioning system, focusing on system requirements and trade-offs.
Summary Generated by Built In

Swift Navigation is hiring. We’re the market leader in automotive precision GNSS and have been awarded programs for a total of more than 10 million ADAS-enabled and autonomous vehicles worldwide across 20+ automotive OEMs & suppliers as well as multiple mobile handset OEMs

Our product line includes an end-to-end safety critical solution composed of a correction service (Skylark) and a positioning engine (Starling) offering both high-accuracy and high-integrity to our automotive users.

Skylark is a 24/7 GNSS corrections service that allows for centimeter-level navigation - safely. Skylark consists of a global GNSS station network, redundant data center architecture, and state of the art monitoring algorithms to ensure 99.9% guaranteed availability and fewer than 1 failure per 1,142 years of driving. To give you a sense of our scale, we process and continuously monitor the integrity of 1.4 billion satellite signals per hour.

Starling is a positioning engine that delivers safe and precise positioning. Starling combines high-accuracy GNSS algorithms, advanced sensor fusion to maintain best-in-class positioning performance in the most challenging environments and integrity algorithms to provide a high-confidence upper bound of the positioning error of our automotive user. Starling is integrated into millions of production vehicles currently operating on the road.

We’re looking for an outstanding Integrity Algorithms Engineer to work on the core of our end-to-end safety-critical products. You will be working to push the state of the art in satellite navigation technology, designing safe and high-accuracy algorithms within Swift correction service engine, GNSS engine or sensor fusion engine. As part of the Integrity team within the Automotive BU, you will contribute to our safety-critical products. Your contributions will span across system level integrity strategy, algorithms design trade-off, algorithms development as well as associated system and validation tools definition.

  • Drive integrity related system and algorithms trade-off to resolution
  • Design and develop macro-models and tools to support integrity related trade-off
  • Design, specify and support implementation of integrity algorithms and define associated test strategy
  • Contribution to the Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)
  • Contribution to safety certification process for integrity related topics
  • Support current future customer programs and pursuits
  • Create internal and external training materials around positioning integrity

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Experience with GNSS or sensor fusion monitoring concept
  • Experience with Integrity principles and algorithms through the development of an operational safety critical system (SBAS, RAIM / ARAIM, AAIM,…)
  • Experience performing FMEA and FTA of a complex system
  • Excellent communication
  • Enthusiastic self-motivated learner
  • Experience with Safety related standards (ISO26262, DO-278, …)

Desired Skills/Experience

  • Experience with GNSS high-accuracy (PPP / RTK) and/or sensor fusion algorithms
  • Automotive development programs
  • Proficiency with C++ and Python.
  • Modern SW engineering concepts
    • Git (or relevant version control system)
    • CI / CD
    • Agile development

Perks

  • A flexible work environment includes work-from-home days each week.
  • Flexible vacation, competitive salary.
  • Tech talks, mentorship programs, employee events.
  • Growth and learning opportunities from a tech environment include working closely with an international team of scientists, engineers, platform architects, programmers, executive staff and professionals.

What We Do

Swift Navigation, Inc. has been redefining GNSS positioning technology since 2012. What began as the industry’s first low-cost, high-accuracy, real-time kinematic (RTK) receiver has evolved into an ecosystem of GNSS positioning solutions for autonomous applications. The Starling® Positioning Engine is an integrated software solution for precise positioning while the Skylark™ Cloud Corrections Service delivers GNSS corrections across the contiguous U.S.—eliminating traditional geographical restrictions. Piksi® Multi and ruggedized Duro® and Duro Inertial RTK receivers deliver centimeter-level accuracy at an affordable price, making them ideal for commercial and industrial applications. Swift Navigation’s technology benefits a multitude of industries and applications—including autonomous vehicles, precision agriculture, robotics, rail, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and surveying. Swift Navigation is enabling a future of autonomous vehicles to navigate and understand the world.

Its products deliver 100 times better accuracy than the GPS in a cell phone—at a fraction of the price of the competition. By optimizing inexpensive, off-the-shelf cell components with sophisticated software, Swift Navigation has built a reputation for defining a new category of GNSS systems as the industry’s first low-cost, high-accuracy RTK receiver.

Swift Navigation is enabling a world where fields farm themselves, drones fly safely and autonomous transportation can take you home. Visit the company online at www.swiftnav.com.
