The Integrated Solutions Senior Well Engineer leads all the well engineering activities within a project or Center of Excellence according to guidelines and processes set out in the Integrated Solutions Management System, international and/or local standards and regulations and customer requirements. The Integrated Solutions Senior WE provides technical input to the well construction, completions, well intervention and abandonment phases, from the concept and tendering stage through project commencement, execution and project close out. During tendering phases, in addition to engineering work, the engineer will be providing technical input to the commercial and procurement teams.
Play a significant role in our operations
The Integrated Solutions Senior Well Engineer will take the ownership of delivering well design, technical requirements, and operational plans to accomplish both Baker Hughes and customer’s technical and financial goals. You will drive close engagement with service delivery, HSE, finance, commercial and sales, and other Baker Hughes product lines. The ‘Senior Well Engineer – Drilling’ will be responsible for all the tasks and activities related to Well Construction projects, with a strong focus on Well Design, Casing Program, Operational Efficiency, and Rig Selection.
As our Integrated Solutions Well Planning Engineer you will also be responsible for:
- Preparation and review of well design, well plan and operational procedures for construction, completion, intervention and/or abandonment of wells in area of responsibility.
- Evaluating and implementing best practices and technological advancements to Integrated Solutions operations.
- Communicate effectively with well site/project stakeholders as needed, and make recommendations to drive flawless service delivery and operational excellence
- Ensure that pre-defined technical and operations KPIs are monitored and benchmarked against offset well data and pre-defined well objectives.
- Participate, lead and ensure Root Cause Analysis investigation are completed and lessons learned are recorded and shared within the team.
- Prepare, review and deliver all technical reports related to the project including End of Well Report, after action reviews, lessons learned summary.
- Participate and contribute in project and CoE team meetings and strategy discussions.
- Ensuring engineering, operational achievements and challenges are captured through case histories, lessons learned or papers and shared with the global team.
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Bachelor's degree in an oil and gas related subject such a Petroleum, Chemical, Well or Drilling Engineering
- Relevant work experience in well construction, completions, intervention and/or optimization. Competences should include drill bits/mills, BHA design, engineering simulations, field operations, preparation of programs, or similar.
- Experience working in at least two relevant applications: conventional rotary drilling, horizontal and/or multilateral wells, pad drilling, unconventional, coiled tubing drilling, underbalance or managed pressure drilling, geothermal well design or operations.
- Well control knowledge
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve objectives through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
- Expert knowledge of analytics and problem-solving, including ability to form hypotheses and move forward in the absence of complete information.
- English oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages.
- Exposure to analytical tools, well engineering and design software (for example: hydraulics, torque and drag, casing/tubing design)
