Allied is looking for an Insurance Specialist to join our Lease Documentation team in Toronto.

In the role of Insurance Specialist, you will have familiarity with insurance terminology, policy structures and a good understanding of real estate leases and tenant-landlord agreements and awareness of local and national regulations governing insurance compliance for commercial and residential tenants. The Insurance Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating insurance-related matters for a national portfolio. This role involves ensuring commercial and residential tenants comply with lease requirements regarding insurance, reviewing policies for adequacy, and mitigating potential risks to the property owner or manager. The insurance specialist acts as a liaison between commercial and residential tenants, landlords, and insurance providers to address compliance.

What will you do?
- Act as main point of contact for all commercial and residential tenant insurance nationally.
- Respond promptly to all internal and external commercial and residential tenant insurance queries, requests and concerns, providing excellent customer service.
- Analyze and verify all certificates of insurance to ensure compliance with lease requirements.
- Ensure accuracy of certificates uploaded to Yardi (coverage dates, amounts etc.)
- Contact commercial and residential tenants upon expiring insurance to obtain new certificates.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Portfolio Operations, Lease Documentation, and Technology.
- KPI reporting.
- Provide guidance on obtaining appropriate coverage and resolving insurance-related issues with the landlord’s insurance provider.
- Identify potential gaps in commercial and residential tenant coverage that could expose the landlord to risk.
- Maintain accurate insurance documentation in compliance management systems.
- Regularly update tracking tools and ensure accessibility for internal stakeholders.
- Any other tasks or duties as assigned.
What are we looking for?
- Post-secondary education
- Bilingual (English and French)
- Minimum 3- 5 years of experience in the insurance industry related to commercial and residential tenant insurance compliance
- Knowledge of commercial and residential insurance policies and requirements/nuances for each city/province, and ability to interpret coverage.
- Understanding all assets individual needs (age, environmental, seismic, etc.).
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Stay updated on changes in commercial and residential insurance regulations and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and carry out various responsibilities simultaneously.
- Yardi experience
- Industry related certifications
- Knowledge of vendors, contractors, and construction/builder’s risk insurance.
