Instrumentation & Controls Project Manager, Peoria, AZ - Semiconductor
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Serve as the primary point of contact and technical authority for all Instrumentation and Controls systems, including low-voltage power, signal wiring, PLCs, BMS, DDC, and equipment integration.
- Lead and coordinate the planning and execution of Life Safety Systems including fire alarm, smoke control, emergency notification, and related low-voltage safety infrastructure.
- Provide field oversight and verification of in-progress installations to ensure conformance with contract documents, redlines, and project specifications.
- Review and provide input on installation methods, system integration challenges, and coordination with mechanical and electrical disciplines.
- Participate in submittal reviews and RFI responses, particularly related to system compatibility, control schemes, device mounting, and interface points.
- Work in partnership with QA/QC teams to support inspection planning, test witnessing, and closeout validation for I&C and LSS systems.
- Interface regularly with trade partners to ensure scope clarity, adherence to quality expectations, and timely execution of work.
- Support the development of redlines and turnover documentation by verifying as-builts and system integration records.
- Engage in system walkdowns and commissioning readiness reviews, with an emphasis on verifying controls functionality and life safety compliance.
- Coordinate with client and GC commissioning teams during startup and functional testing of both I&C and LSS systems.
- Escalate risks, delays, or quality issues to the Construction Manager and collaborate on resolution strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in construction or engineering roles related to instrumentation, controls, and life safety systems.
- Strong working knowledge of PLC, DDC, and low-voltage control systems as they relate to high-tech or industrial facility environments.
- Familiarity with fire alarm and life safety system requirements, testing procedures, and coordination across trades.
- Ability to interpret control schematics, point-to-point diagrams, riser diagrams, device layouts, and P&IDs.
- Experience coordinating with multiple trade partners and field teams in active construction environments.
- Skilled in resolving field constructability issues and collaborating with design professionals on real-time solutions.
- Experience supporting system commissioning, loop checks, and controls device validation preferred.
- Proficient in reviewing and managing redlines, submittals, and turnover documentation.
- Comfortable navigating platforms such as Bluebeam, BIM 360/ACC, and Excel-based tracking tools.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Controls Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical field preferred.
- NICET certification in Fire Alarm Systems or other relevant Life Safety qualifications are a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification preferred.
