Primary Purpose
Oversees commissioning for large-scale systems by reviewing procedures, validating test results, and implementing corrective actions, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews and approves commissioning documentation, including as-built drawings, test reports, and manuals, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions for project commissioning issues and leads root cause analyses for equipment failures and incidents.
  • Leads and participates in continuous improvement initiatives, focusing on startup, commissioning, and testing processes.
  • Assesses constructability and field conditions, ensures proper resource allocation, and resolves on-site issues to maintain project momentum.
  • Ensures safe, efficient, and policy-compliant project execution, aligning with departmental procedures and safety standards.
  • Validates commissioning data from internal teams and contractors, confirming accuracy, safety, and adherence to industry standards.
  • Identifies risks and implements mitigation strategies, while maintaining quality assurance systems and supporting technical documentation efforts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

$129500 - $204500 / year

Preferred Qualifications

Education

  • Requires a 4 year degree in a relevant engineering field.

Experience

  • Requires 8 years of related experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Required: Ability to develop commissioning plans for large or technically complex projects.
  • Required: Ability to independently manage complex commissioning assignments.
  • Required: Ability to influence technical decisions through commissioning expertise.
  • Required: Advanced knowledge of commissioning methodologies across complex systems.
  • Required: Knowledge of risk management and failure modes associated with system startup.
  • Required: Skill in balancing schedule, safety, and performance objectives.
  • Required: Skill in synthesizing design intent, operational needs, and test results.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Required: Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of California is required.

Skills Required

  • 4 year degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 8 years of related experience
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in the state of California
  • Automation System Integration (programmable controllers, operator interfaces, supervisory systems)
  • Control Logic Design
  • Advanced Troubleshooting of sensors, communications, and system components
  • Commissioning Execution (calibration, functional testing, performance verification)
  • Safety Control Application (interlocks, shutdown logic, emergency stops)
  • Technical Drawing Interpretation
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration with electrical, mechanical, and operations teams
