Purpose of the role:
The Instructional Designer is a key position within the organization, responsible for developing, creating, implementing, and facilitating training and development programs for SavATree. Focus areas include using best-practice learning methodologies, leveraging learning management system functionality, creating specific SCORM-compliant training courses, and LMS administration. The role works cross-functionally with subject-matter experts throughout the organization and drives success by fostering an active learning culture.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Assess training and development needs through strategic communication with the HR team, senior leadership, managers, and team members.
- Champion management and administration of the SavATree Learning Management System, ensuring compliance with local legislation and internal programs on specific training courses.
- Utilize ADDIE model or other applicable framework for instructional design ensuring that learning objectives are accomplished.
- Create custom courses for a variety of learning initiatives, including: Learning Journeys for key roles, sales training courses, leadership development, new hire orientation, field training, compliance courses, etc.
- Maintain and establish vendor relationships, such as Dale Carnegie, Situational Leadership, or other content providers, to meet ongoing needs for our growing organization.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through review of key performance indicators and surveys.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts across the organization.
- Capture best practices with standard work, streamlining processes, and implementing Lean Six Sigma methodology.
- Maintain knowledge of the latest trends in training and development.
- Processing purchase orders and maintaining records and reports of expenses.
What kind of person we’re looking for:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferably in training and development, human resources or related field OR equivalent experience working within a service industry and supporting a distributed workforce.
- Minimum 2 years' experience with learning management system administration and e-learning course design.
- ATD Associate Professional in Talent Development or Certified Professional in Talent Development a plus.
- Experience with course authoring using Articulate Rise 360 and Storyline required.
- Proficient with AI tools (Co-Pilot, ChatGPT, Gama) required.
- Proficient with basic video editing for job aid and course creation.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and andragogy theories.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to learn quickly.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build strong working relationships with business partners at all levels in a professional manner.
- Excellent facilitation skills with the ability to navigate between online and in-person delivery methods.
- Outstanding attention to detail and ability to work within systems and leverage multiple platforms and methods to accomplish learning goals.
- Resourceful self-starter able to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Proven ability to manage competing demands, transactions, and projects simultaneously to meet required deadlines.
- Evaluation and research skills to identify training options and alternatives.
- Microsoft Office proficient, including Excel expertise.
