Position Purpose:
At The Home Depot, we help doers get more done. Our Learning Design & Development team creates simple, relevant, and effective learning experiences for our orange-blooded associates. We have a strong team of Instructional Designers who are focused on building associate capability and driving business performance, and we’re looking to add to the team.

Our Instructional Designers apply design expertise, learning science, emerging technologies, and AI-enabled tools to create engaging learning experiences across multiple modalities. Working closely with business partners and subject matter experts, the Instructional Designer transforms performance needs into effective learning solutions while delivering high-quality project execution from analysis through implementation. This role continuously explores new technologies, design approaches, and AI-enabled workflows to improve efficiency, learner engagement, and learning outcomes.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
50% - Design and develop learning solutions, including eLearning, instructor-led training, distance learning, blended learning, etc.
20% - Collaborate with Learning Strategy Senior Managers and subject matter experts during the analysis phase and throughout the project.
10% - Work with standard development tools and software (Articulate Storyline/Rise, PowerPoint, etc.).
10% - Communicate with project team members and effectively manage projects.
10% - Work on creative and innovative ways to develop associates.

- This position reports to Manager of Learning.
- This position has 0 direct reports.
Travel Requirements:
- Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
- Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
- Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be eighteen years of age or older.
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Instructional Technology, HR Development, Organizational Development, I/O Psychology, or related field preferred (or equivalent Home Depot experience)
- Ability to design learner-centered experiences that are visually engaging, contextual, and immediately applicable to the work environment
- Working knowledge of multiple learning modalities including eLearning, instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, mobile, and performance support solutions
- Experience with agile learning development or the Successive Approximation Model (SAM)
- Experience using generative AI and AI-enabled tools to support learning analysis, content development, asset creation, and workflow efficiency.
- Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn emerging technologies and evolving learning practices
- Knowledge of current learning technologies, digital learning trends, and modern content creation practices. Proficiency using modern learning technologies, AI-enabled content development platforms, and digital learning tools (i.e., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Creative Cloud, Copilot, Gemini, etc.)
- Experience consulting with business partners and SMEs to identify learning needs and recommend learning solutions
- Strong ability to communicate professionally, provide proper context, and tailor messages to a variety of audiences
- Ability to work independently (e.g., project revisions, solving issues as they arise)
- Familiarity with learning analytics, learner feedback, and data-driven evaluation methods
