Roth Canada is expanding its institutional trading platform and seeking Canadian Sales Trading professionals to build and lead the firm’s institutional trading franchise.
Since launching in Canada in 2021, Roth Canada has participated in more than 90 capital markets transactions representing over $3.5 billion in transaction value, including 10 lead or co-lead mandates. Today we operate offices in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto, connecting Canadian issuers and investors to Roth Capital’s global institutional network.
This role is designed for a sales trading professional with strong institutional relationships and a proven ability to generate and manage flow, who wants to build and lead a growing trading desk within a cross-border investment banking platform.

The Opportunity
Roth Canada is building a fully integrated institutional trading capability to complement its growing investment banking and corporate advisory platform.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the desk and driving institutional trading revenue, including:
  • Developing and leading Roth Canada’s institutional sales trading effort
  • Monetizing relationships with Canadian and global institutional investors
  • Partnering with investment banking and research teams to support capital markets transactions
  • Leveraging Roth Capital’s US distribution network to expand trading flow
  • Participating in block trades, marketed offerings, and secondary market liquidity events
  • Helping shape the strategy and growth of Roth Canada’s institutional trading platform
This role offers the opportunity to build a franchise within a rapidly growing cross-border investment bank, with significant autonomy and commercial upside.
The trading desk operates on an agency basis with the ability to facilitate block trades and capital markets transactions in partnership with Roth Capital’s US trading platform.
Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead Roth Canada’s institutional sales trading platform
  • Generate and manage institutional trading flow across Canadian and global asset managers
  • Collaborate with investment banking teams to support capital markets transactions and investor distribution
  • Work closely with research to deliver differentiated investment ideas and market insights to clients
  • Develop and deepen relationships with hedge funds, mutual funds, pension funds, and asset managers
  • Identify liquidity opportunities including block trades, secondaries, and special situations
  • Expand Roth Canada’s institutional trading footprint both domestically and internationally
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in institutional sales trading or equity sales at a leading broker-dealer
  • Established relationships with institutional investors across Canada and/or the United States
  • Demonstrated ability to generate trading commissions and monetize institutional flow
  • Strong understanding of equity market structure, capital markets transactions, and liquidity dynamics
  • Leadership experience or demonstrated ability to help build and scale a trading platform
  • CIRO registration required; FINRA Series 7 considered an asset
Compensation
Roth Canada offers a competitive, production-based compensation structure aligned with trading revenue generation and capital markets participation.
This role provides the opportunity to benefit from direct revenue attribution and the ability to scale trading activity through Roth Capital’s US institutional investor network.

Skills Required

  • 7+ years of experience in institutional sales trading or equity sales at a leading broker-dealer
