Job Description

Manager, Insights & Analytics

Role Purpose:

The Manager, Insights & Analytics provides commercial decision support to the Canadian commercial organization, turning commercial, CRM, omnichannel, market, and customer data into insight that shapes how brand plans are executed locally and informs annual planning through patient and demand forecasts. The role helps Business Unit leaders, who remain accountable for performance, understand which levers to pull, where to focus, and which questions to ask to drive results. Acting as a trusted advisor to brand teams and cross-functional leaders across Marketing, Sales, Finance, Medical, Market Access, and Patient Services, the role brings evidence, options, and clear recommendations to the moments where decisions are made. CRM and field activity data are a core focus, giving leaders visibility into how customer engagement and execution are translating into results. The role connects the dots across data sources quickly, builds the models and performance dashboards the business relies on, and asks the questions that move performance discussions beyond commentary. The role supports assigned brands and therapeutic areas, which may include in-line and launch portfolios.

The role brings together three core areas:

  • Insights and strategic partnership: synthesizing market, customer, and performance data with primary and secondary market research into clear “so what / now what” recommendations for brand strategy and tactical plans.
  • Forecasting and demand modelling: owning the patient and demand models that provide critical input to the financial planning cycle and annual direction setting.
  • Performance analytics and sales force effectiveness: defining KPIs, building scorecards and Power BI dashboards, analyzing CRM and field activity, and delivering sales force effectiveness analytics that help leaders understand what is driving results, not only what the results are.

The role does not own data ingestion, data quality, stewardship, or broader data governance, which sit with Data, Digital & Technology (DD&T) and are delivered through the Enterprise Data Backbone (EDB). Instead, the role is an expert consumer of enterprise data: it harvests insight from trusted sources, applies business judgment to recognize when numbers do not make sense, and raises issues with DD&T so they are resolved at the source.

Reporting Line:

  • Reports to: Insights Lead
  • Direct reports: 0 (individual contributor; leads through partnership and influence)

Key Accountabilities:

Insights generation & strategic partnership

  • Act as the analytical thought partner to brand teams, generating and communicating data-derived insights and recommendations that shape brand strategy, tactical plans, and resource choices.
  • Bring together market, customer, patient, and performance data to explain uptake, utilization, and customer behaviour, and to identify risks and opportunities early.
  • Partner with vendors on primary and secondary market research, including customer journeys and brand utilization, to guide future strategy; ensure research findings are integrated with performance data rather than reported in isolation.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of the assigned therapeutic areas, competitive landscape, and Canadian market dynamics, including market access and reimbursement factors.

Forecasting & demand modelling

  • Own the patient and demand forecast models for assigned brands, including patient-flow and trend-based approaches, for inline and launch brands.
  • Lead the forecasting process locally: build assumptions and scenarios, gain cross-functional alignment, and clearly communicate forecast outputs, sensitivities, and risks.
  • Provide forecasts as a critical input to the financial planning cycle and annual direction setting, in partnership with Finance and Business Unit leadership.

Performance management, KPIs & sales force effectiveness

  • Define meaningful KPIs with cross-functional partners and build the scorecards and analyses that bring visibility to the levers which drive performance and enable productive and actionable leadership dialogue, connecting outcomes to customer, channel, and field-execution drivers.
  • Analyze CRM and field activity data (e.g., reach, frequency, call quality, and engagement patterns) to assess execution against plan and pose the right questions to Sales and Marketing leadership.
  • Deliver sales force effectiveness analytics, including territory design, segmentation, targeting and call planning, resource allocation and sizing, and incentive compensation.
  • Support the Insights Lead in evolving the commercial performance-management approach and prepare analysis for the monthly commercial scorecard reviews.
  • Where permitted, incorporate Patient Support Program (PSP) and patient data into performance and demand analysis, in line with consent, privacy notices, and Takeda data-use standards.

Dashboards, reporting & self-serve analytics

  • Design, build, and maintain Power BI dashboards and scorecards, working self-sufficiently and, where needed, with vendors and DD&T, using trusted data from the Enterprise Data Backbone.
  • Turn complex analysis into clear insight presentations and decision-ready narratives for brand teams and leadership.
  • Drive Business Unit adoption of insights and self-serve analytics; simplify and rationalize reporting so it is used to make decisions.
  • Apply strong business sense to sense-check data and outputs, recognize anomalies, and escalate data-quality issues to DD&T for resolution at the source.

Key Interfaces:

  • Insights Lead and Insights & Analytics team
  • Head of Commercial & Marketing Operations
  • Business Unit leadership, brand teams, and Senior Marketing Engagement Leads
  • Sales leadership
  • Commercial Operations
  • Omnichannel Marketing (NGCE) Lead and CRM

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative, business, or scientific field required; advanced degree (MBA/MSc) preferred.
  • 5–7+ years in commercial analytics, business insights, forecasting, or sales force effectiveness within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or healthcare data and consulting environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian pharmaceutical data sources, especially IQVIA, and of the Canadian pharmaceutical market.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining patient and demand forecast models and communicating their assumptions and outputs to senior stakeholders.
  • Hands-on sales force effectiveness experience: territory design, segmentation, targeting, sizing, and incentive compensation.
  • Advanced Excel and Power BI skills; SQL and Python or R are an asset.
  • Experience analyzing CRM,field activity, and omnichannel data to explain performance drivers is strongly preferred.
  • Versatile, hands-on profile: able to quickly connect data across sources, build analytical tools, and understand the business context well enough to tell when something does not add up.
  • Strong strategic and critical thinking; makes evidence-based recommendations and is comfortable asking challenging questions of the business.
  • Exceptional communication skills; explains the “so what” of complex analytics to non-technical audiences, including senior leaders.
  • Ability to understand complex therapeutic areas and clinical data; experience supporting launches is an asset.
  • Strong collaboration, curiosity, bias for action, and comfort working in an evolving operating model.

What Good Looks Like:

The successful candidate connects the dots quickly, combining market, customer, field, and forecast data into a coherent view of what is happening and why. This person builds tools that are actually used, explains numbers with confidence, and raises the quality of performance conversations by asking the next question rather than reporting the last result. They know the data well enough to trust it, and to challenge it, without owning the infrastructure behind it. The successful candidate thrives in a dynamic environment where curiosity, versatility, judgment, and partnership are essential.
