We are looking for an analytically driven professional to join the Strategic Planning & Innovation Branch of the Retail Strategy & Product Portfolio Management Department. The appointee will support both qualitative and quantitative analyses, exploring new products and services, business models, with view to create tangible customer and business impact. This hands-on role is suited to someone who is passionate about data and motivated to turn insights into scalable solutions. Sitting at the intersection of data science, innovation and strategy, this is an opportunity to shape how CLP operates and grows.
Major Duties
- Apply sound quantitative judgement and best practice analytical approaches to identify business needs, derive insights and track performance.
- Transform ambiguous business challenges into clear analytical questions, hypotheses and practical data approaches.
- Support exploration and diagnostic analyses to identify patterns, opportunities and risks using customer and operational data.
- Support design and development of data analyses, statistical models and selected machine learning solutions to inform innovation initiatives, pilots and decision making.
- Structure analytical outputs into clear business narratives, including problem definition, insight synthesis, opportunity framing and recommended actions, to support decision making and investment discussions.
- Develop presentation materials (e.g. concept papers, proposals and presentation decks) to articulate new ideas, influence stakeholders and build alignment across business and innovation teams.
- Support cross‑functional coordination to translate analysis into actionable proposals, ensuring alignment on objectives, assumptions and implementation approach.
- Other ad hoc tasks to provide exposure and hands-on learning as appropriate.
Requirements
- A recognised university degree in Data Science, Quantitative Analysis, Engineering, Business, or related disciplines.
- Minimum 3 years' relevant experience in data analytics or data science roles, preferably involving innovation, strategy, customer analytics or exploratory business problem solving.
- Solid hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Data analysis and modelling using tools such as Microsoft Excel, Python, R, SQL or similar
- Building and applying statistical or machine learning models (e.g. predictive modelling, clustering, NLP or similar techniques)
- Data visualisation and business intelligence tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau)
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to work with ambiguous problem statements, exploratory analysis and hypothesis driven approaches.
- Able to translate analytical outputs into structured business insights and recommendations for decision making.
- Experience in developing business pitches and presentations (e.g. slides, concept papers) to communicate ideas, support proposals and facilitate stakeholder discussion.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage non-technical stakeholders and drive alignment on proposed approaches.
- Self-motivated, innovative and comfortable working in a fast moving environment.
- Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese.
- Candidates with less experience will be considered as junior position.
