SMX is looking for a motivated Infrastructure Support Specialist to join our Data Center Facilities team. This position will provide full-time onsite support in Patuxent River, MD.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in supporting the NAWCAD DNA division at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station, with responsibilities that include: cable termination, physical hardware installation, and configuration and maintenance of IT infrastructure.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Track and visualize rack-mounted equipment and available power, networks, and physical space
- Decommission equipment and connections
- Lift 60-75lbs and perform work requiring extended walking and bending
- Properly routing, dressing, and securing cables within racks, trays, and pathways to maintain airflow and organization
- Installing overhead and underfloor cabling infrastructure.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Visio
- View, interpret, and maintain floor plans by rack units or weight, and oversubscribe racks based on actual power
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and maintaining IT physical hardware
- Proficient in making, terminating connectors, and installing various cable types: copper (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6a, Cat7), fiber optic (single-mode, multi-mode), coaxial
- Following industry best practices for cable management (e.g., bend radius, cable ties, labeling)
Desired Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience with Server racks and cable management
- Experience working within a team environment
- Proficient in Visio, with experience creating rack diagrams and cable maps
