Core Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership & Talent Development
Recruits, mentors, and leads a high-performing infrastructure reliability team. Establishes technical performance benchmarks, conducts regular evaluations, and drives professional development through targeted training. Oversees compensation decisions in alignment with organizational HR policies.
2. Escalation & Incident Management
Owns resolution of high-severity infrastructure and platform incidents escalated by engineering teams or business stakeholders. Applies deep technical expertise to diagnose root causes and implement sustainable fixes across distributed systems.
3. Infrastructure Operations Oversight
Manages cloud infrastructure operations teams responsible for provisioning, monitoring, and maintaining scalable, resilient platforms. Develops and executes strategic roadmaps aligned with enterprise IT and business objectives, ensuring operational excellence and platform reliability.
4. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
Designs and enforces infrastructure policies, runbooks, and SOPs to adapt to evolving business and technology needs. Leads continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, service quality, and operational efficiency.
5. Platform Reliability & Performance Engineering
Ensures proactive maintenance and performance tuning of mission-critical systems to meet SLAs and SLOs. Collaborates with architecture and engineering teams to define platform standards and integrate emerging technologies into enterprise infrastructure.
6. Cloud Vendor Management & Technical Governance
Establishes and maintains technical standards for cloud platforms and services. Oversees vendor performance, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and alignment with internal reliability and security benchmarks.
7. Business Alignment & Technical Strategy
Engages with business units to understand functional requirements and translates them into scalable infrastructure solutions. Evaluates and recommends appropriate technologies to support business growth and innovation.
8. Strategic Initiatives & Cross-Functional Projects
Contributes to enterprise-wide initiatives, including infrastructure modernization, cloud migration, and reliability engineering programs. Performs additional duties as required to support organizational goals.
Qualifications:
5+ years leadership experience in Cloud OR Infrastructure Engineering
Experience managing or using observability platforms (Splunk, Honeycomb, Grafana)
Strong executive presence presenting to stakeholders
Experience with vendor management
Experience delivering solutions within a AWS environment
Preferences:
AWS or related technical certifications
Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
