Job Description
The Information Technology Vendor Manager function is responsible for:
• Managing and governing IT service providers in order to execute efficiently and to ensure Client is receiving holistic IT services.
• Providing quantifiable improvements in supplier service while building strong vendor relationships.
Key success factors considered are the management of Client’s IT vendors to ensure they meet SLA commitments while providing proactive visibility into their products, services and roadmaps.
Responsibilities:
• Team with Procurement to manage the overall evaluation, selection and performance of contractual agreements for IT vendors. This includes the use of benchmarking services available to Client where appropriate.
• Provide thought leadership on Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and collaborate with IT SME(s) and Procurement to establish SLAs for each IT vendor.
• Manage vendor on-boarding and contract / risk monitoring.
• Lead vendor sponsored events which focus primarily on future products and services, industry trends, vendor partnering, vendor strategic direction and similar topics. This includes ensuring involvement of key stakeholders and process owners where appropriate.
• Drive ongoing process improvement initiatives to deliver increased efficiency into vendor related processes.
• Continue to establish and maintain vendor education materials to ensure Client’s supplier base understands Client’s current and future business objectives.
• Continue to create, maintain and provide IT SME training.
• In collaboration with IT Procurement, evaluate services provided by non-strategic vendors and create a plan to reduce those non-strategic vendors and their respective spend.
• Define service level metrics, gather and analyze data and report on vendor performance.
• Collaborate with embedded/tactical vendor managers across IT to ensure vendor partners are effectively managed and contracts are fully leveraged.
• Insure operational review meetings are established and that vendors and IT SME(s) co-facilitate meetings on a routine basis.
• Lead business review meetings with vendor and business and IT stakeholders and include the creation and review of a vendor scorecard.
• In collaboration with IT Procurement, gather, analyze and report on IT cost savings and cost avoidance.
• Manage vendor dispositions (exits) to ensure that the vendor transfers knowledge, assets, etc. to a new provider, as required.
• Perform audits and take corrective action if compliance issues arise.
• Manage software and hardware maintenance renewals.
• Keep apprised of projects and initiatives involving IT vendors.
Desired Skills & Experience:
The position requires 7-10 years IT experience and 5-7 years relevant IT vendor management or contract management experience. A BS in Computer Science, Engineering or Business Administration is preferred and a MBA is a plus.
Required Experience:
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, critical initiatives and the ability to create and implement a vendor management strategy with key cost saving outputs.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; especially presentation skills.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving, negotiation, risk taking, critical thinking and organizational skills.
• IT Thought leadership in the areas of Vendor Management and Service Level Agreements.
• Strong technical/functional understanding of Vendor Management tool-sets.
• MS Office and Microsoft Project Management/Planning
