Ascendance Foundry is building a new model for technical education and AI-enabled consulting.
We embed exceptional early-career talent into organizations alongside experienced founders, engineers, operators, and domain experts to help companies adopt AI and modern automation tools — while simultaneously training the next generation of technical leaders.
We are looking for an ambitious, adaptable Infrastructure & Automation Specialist to help design and support the cloud, DevOps, and security foundations behind both our client work and our internal systems.
This is a strong fit for someone early in their career who learns quickly, enjoys solving messy real-world problems, and wants exposure to a wide range of technologies, industries, and client environments.
What You’ll DoClient Infrastructure & DevOps StrategyHelp clients design practical infrastructure strategies aligned with:
business requirements
security requirements
budget constraints
internal IT team capabilities
Recommend appropriate deployment models, tooling, cloud architecture, and operational processes
Support implementation of cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, identity/access management, monitoring, and security controls
Help clients improve operational maturity without overengineering
Help manage and evolve AF’s internal infrastructure and operational tooling
Support the deployment and maintenance of internally-built applications and AI systems
Work alongside AF leadership and our fractional CISO on:
security practices
endpoint management
access controls
cloud architecture
operational resilience
Help establish scalable internal processes as AF grows
Work closely with Fellows, engineers, and client teams
Help coach technically strong but less experienced team members on infrastructure and operational best practices
Participate in workshops, internal tooling discussions, and collaborative problem-solving sessions
We care more about adaptability, curiosity, communication skills, and learning velocity than checking every technical box.
Ideal candidates will likely have:
1–5 years of experience in DevOps, infrastructure, cloud engineering, IT operations, or related technical work
Strong problem-solving ability and comfort learning new systems quickly
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Interest in consulting, teaching, mentoring, or client-facing work
Comfort working across multiple projects and industries simultaneously
Experience with some of the following is helpful:
Azure, Google Cloud, and/or AWS (our systems are built in Google Cloud and the majority of our clients are in Azure)
Docker and containerized deployments
CI/CD pipelines
Infrastructure-as-code tools
Identity and access management
Endpoint management / zero-trust tooling
Monitoring and logging systems
Basic scripting or software development
Security and compliance concepts
You do not need to be an expert in all of these areas.
Why This Role Is DifferentThis is not a narrowly-scoped enterprise DevOps role.
You will work directly with founders, operators, technical leaders, and clients across a wide range of industries — helping design systems that are actually usable and maintainable for real organizations.
You will also have the opportunity to:
Build broad technical and operational exposure quickly
Work alongside experienced founders and technical leaders
Develop consulting and leadership skills early in your career
Help shape the operational foundations of a rapidly growing organization
Mentor and collaborate with exceptional students and early-career technologists
Toronto-based preferred
Hybrid work environment
Some client travel may occasionally be required
Compensation will depend on experience and capability. We are open to candidates from a variety of backgrounds who demonstrate exceptional potential, learning velocity, and ownership.
