Position Summary:

This role is responsible for leading the software development of infrastructure automation routines which support building infrastructure that private cloud services are delivered on. Key responsibilities of the role include defining the programming architecture and languages, setting strategy for how code is delivered, and implementing routines to ensure that code that is delivered adheres to a common standard. Solutions should be entirely API based and form part of the wider Infrastructure as Code approach. The candidate will need to analyze existing capabilities and develop a strategy for how to integrate and expand them in a sustainable way. Experience of the infrastructure side is useful but not essential, the key accountability of the role is to ensure the integrity of the software that runs the automations. The candidate will need to work closely with the infrastructure engineering team who define the infrastructure design.  

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ownership of the software code base for infrastructure automation routines

  • Definition of coding strategy and ownership of code review routines

  • Development of world class APIs to enable interaction with other systems

  • Day to day work allocation and tracking for a team of half a dozen developers

  • Ensure adherence of the team to a robust release cycle process

  • Support/mentor/coach for the team on design and best practices for high code performance – e.g. pairing, code reviews.

  • Interaction with infrastructure engineering team to understand desired outcomes, and ensure that the software that is developed delivers them

  • Deliver work using an Agile methodology and use Jira for work assignments and tracking

  • Development of automated regression testing to streamline release cycles

Required Qualifications

  • Experience leading a coding team

  • Proficiency in Python scripting

  • Proficiency in orchestrating workflows using Ansible

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts and CI/CD pipelines supporting automated builds, validation, and deployments.

  • Strong focus on testing and reliability, including automated integration/validation testing and troubleshooting of complex workflows.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience of the VMWare Stack

  • Use of Teraform for infrastructure builds

  • Familiarity with Powershell scripting

  • Experience working on Infrastructure as Code deployments

Pay and benefits information

Pay range$122,000.00 - $200,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.

Discretionary incentive eligible

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
