About the Role
Our client, a market leader in milling and marketing premium maize meal and animal feeds in Kenya, is seeking an Information Technology Manager to hold accountability for IT governance, IT technical infrastructure, business applications ecosystem, cybersecurity posture, and IT regulatory alignment.
The role ensures stable, secure, and efficient IT operations that support mill uptime and business continuity.
📍 Location Note: This role is based in Kenya at our client's FMCG manufacturing facility in the Nairobi region.
Key Responsibilities:
• Develop, implement, and maintain IT policies and operational procedures
• Own and maintain the IT asset register (hardware, software, licenses)
• Maintain the IT risk register and IT risks monitoring/reporting
• Manage and optimize the firm's IT infrastructure (cloud + on-premise)
• Ensure high availability of ERP and production systems (DigiERP, Famsun, Pingle, Agrihub)
• Enforce SLAs with all 3rd-party vendors
• Oversee network, servers, storage, backups, and endpoint environments
• Coordinate DR readiness with internal teams and external vendors to prevent mill downtime
• Periodically evaluate the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) and Disaster Recovery (DR) procedures
• Own the IT Helpdesk system, ensuring proper ticketing, escalation, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
• Govern the Change Management process and approve User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Manage the creation and deactivation process following Joiner-Mover-Leaver processes
• Implement and monitor IT access management controls (RBAC, MFA, patching, endpoint protection)
• Ensure compliance with Kenya IT laws and standards, including KDPA 2019
• Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and enforce SLAs
• Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective procurement and lifecycle management
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree in IT/Computer Science
• Cloud Practitioner certification (AWS/Azure/GCP)
• Demonstrated knowledge of ITIL processes (incident, change, problem)
• 5-7+ years total experience
• 3-5 years managing IT infrastructure and systems administration
• 2-3 years in IT governance, vendor management, or project leadership
• Incident, change, and problem management (ITIL-aligned)
• IT budgeting & cost optimization experience
• Strong leadership and communication skills
