Job Summary
The Information Technology Applications and Support provides effective support for all County hardware assets and software including vender coordination and support.  Also provides similar support as requested to all County Municipalities and Law Enforcement Agencies for both hardware and software including assets proprietary to public safety or non-standard.  Provides high level support and system administration for multijurisdictional records and dispatch software. Must be comfortable working closely with command staff and available for limited 24/7 support after normal office hours for law enforcement and County nursing home.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
The following duties are primarily performed and are essential for this position.  Employees are expected to be able to perform each of these job duties satisfactorily and successfully with or without reasonable accommodations to be qualified for the position.  Other duties may be required and assigned.
80% Software/Hardware Support and Administration:
Provides high level support for all county software and hardware with the ability to find solutions on their own.  Works closely with IT manager and vendors.
5% Tests, Schedules and Installs:
Tests new Pro Phoenix and medical software releases and interfaces before scheduling updates to live environment.
5% Support:
Supports digital media devices both hardware and software. Devices include in-squad, body worn, interview room, and Justice Center, Administration Center and Lasata Care Center surveillance cameras.  Supports phone and radio audio log software.
5% Researches, Tests, and Implements:
Current and emerging industry specific technology. County Web site administration.

5% Other Duties as Assigned:
Performs other technology duties assigned by IT manager or Command Staff.

Minimum Education Qualifications
Education and/or Experience Requirements:
  • Two-year degree from accredited business/technical/trade college in electronics or related field preferred.
  • Five years’ experience in IT preferred.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Qualifications
In order to perform the functions and responsibilities of the position (listed above) the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are essential.
 
  • Proficient knowledge of setup and support of personal computers.
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server as well as SQL.
  • Knowledge of software interfaces.
  • Experience with security camera systems and other recording devices.
  • Experience in supporting mobile users.
  • Ability to communicate clearly to the end user.
  • Ability to stay calm in high-pressure time sensitive situations.
  • Ability to be outgoing and personable.
  • Skills in time management and workload management.
  • Skills in customer service.
  • Advanced computer troubleshooting, analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving ability. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with frequent interruptions, occasionally in urgent situations.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer and system programming capabilities and techniques and web development. 
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental understanding of project management methodology
  • Good organizational, analytical, and planning skills. 
  • Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds. 
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, staff, consultants, and representatives from other districts.  Ability to read and adhere to organizational policies and procedures, government agency regulations, hardware/software specifications and procedures. 
  • Ability to prepare and write technical operational system documentation and knowledgebase articles for critical infrastructure and application systems.

Physical Requirements
 
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing or walking.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

Work Environment
Work is performed in an office environment.  Occasional work-related travel and working in outdoor weather conditions or confined spaces.  May encounter irritated individuals.
