Job Description
The Information System Security Officer (ISSO) will be responsible for managing Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities in accordance with NIST 800-37, ICD 503, and DoD requirements. This role includes preparing, reviewing, and submitting cybersecurity documentation, as well as ensuring that systems are secure, operational, and compliant. The ISSO will also serve as a systems administrator and provide technical support related to various IT systems and devices.
Key Responsibilities:

RMF Management
- Manage RMF activities in compliance with NIST 800-37, ICD 503, and DoD requirements.
- Prepare, review, and submit Cybersecurity/Information Assurance documentation, including System Security Plans (SSPs), Risk Assessments, Standard Operating Procedures, Body of Evidence (BoE) documentation, Authority To Connect (ATC), and Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages.

Systems Administration
- Serve as the systems administrator, managing and configuring systems to ensure security and operational effectiveness.
- Review audit log reports to identify potential security issues.

Technical Support
- Image and configure workstations.
- Track and assist with technical issues related to systems or peripherals.
- Run fiber and CAT5/6 network cables.
- Troubleshoot computers, cabling, Voice over IP devices, printers, multi-function devices, and video teleconferencing (VTC) equipment.

COMSEC and SCIF Support
- Assist with resolving issues related to communications security (COMSEC) devices.
- Support the accreditation and maintenance of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIF).

Network and System Maintenance
- Ensure that systems remain operational, compliant, and active on requisite networks.
- Perform security scans and apply patches.
- Set up and operate VTC equipment.

Reporting and Documentation
- Send status reports to the Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Project Manager.
- Create and update network diagrams, floor layouts, and other documentation as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years or more of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree and three (3) years or more of relevant experience.
Required Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of NIST and DoD cybersecurity standards, guidelines, best practices, and RMF processes.
- Experience with systems administration and technical troubleshooting.
- Ability to prepare, review, and submit comprehensive cybersecurity documentation.
Desired Skills:
- Senior-level written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of Army/Military hierarchy and protocols.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Mission Assurance Support Service (eMASS).
Additional Information
Reports To: Information System Security Manager (ISSM) and Project Manager
Security Clearance: Active Top Secret/SCI DoD clearance (US Citizenship required)
Certifications:
- Required: One or more of the following: CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP
- Desired: IAM Level II for the DoD Information Assurance Workforce
Work Environment:
- This position is based at Rock Island Arsenal, IL, and may require occasional travel or extended hours to meet project deadlines.
Compensation:
- Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications, starting at $90,000.00. A comprehensive benefits package is provided, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
