MBL Technologies is seeking an Information System Security Officer (ISSO) to support the day-to-day cybersecurity posture of assigned information systems. The ISSO will maintain Risk Management Framework (RMF) documentation, support continuous monitoring activities, track vulnerabilities and remediation efforts, manage Plans of Action and Milestones (POA&Ms), and help ensure systems remain compliant with Department of Defense (DoD) and National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) cybersecurity requirements.

This role works closely with system owners, administrators, engineers, cybersecurity personnel, and other stakeholders to maintain system security and support ongoing authorization and compliance activities.

Work Location: Hybrid — Onsite 3–5 days per week in Crystal City, Virginia 

Security Clearance: Active Secret Security Clearance

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Maintain and update System Security Plans (SSPs) and related RMF documentation and artifacts. 
  • Support continuous monitoring activities, including control reviews, security checks, log reviews, and security status tracking. 
  • Create, update, and track POA&Ms for identified vulnerabilities, weaknesses, and remediation activities. 
  • Review vulnerability scan results and validate DISA Security Technical Implementation Guide (STIG) compliance findings. 
  • Support RMF activities, including security categorization, control implementation, assessment, authorization, and continuous monitoring. 
  • Maintain system security records in eMASS and support security authorization package updates. 
  • Support vulnerability management, remediation tracking, and audit evidence collection. 
  • Coordinate incident response activities for assigned information systems. 
  • Partner with system owners, administrators, engineers, and Information System Security Managers (ISSMs) to identify and resolve security and compliance issues. 
  • Provide clear documentation and status reporting related to cybersecurity risks, findings, and remediation efforts.

Required Experience Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. 
  • Relevant DoD 8140-aligned cybersecurity certification, such as CISSP, Security+, or another certification appropriate to the position. 
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, information assurance, or information system security. 
  • Working knowledge of NIST SP 800-53, DoD RMF, and DoD cybersecurity compliance requirements. 
  • Experience developing or maintaining SSPs, POA&Ms, RMF documentation, vulnerability management records, and audit evidence. 
  • Familiarity with eMASS, ACAS/Tenable, STIG Viewer, and related security and compliance tools. 
  • Strong documentation, analytical, organizational, and issue-tracking skills. 
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity compliance within DoD or other federal environments. 
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment. 
  • Strong judgment in evaluating cybersecurity risk while balancing operational and mission requirements. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships with technical teams, system owners, and leadership. 
  • Detail-oriented approach to RMF documentation, authorization activities, and continuous monitoring.
  • Active Secret Security Clearance.
