Company Overview

Each year, 2.5 trillion hours are spent on household chores. At Matic, we’re on a mission to recapture that lost time, and we’re doing it by revolutionizing home robotics.

Our first product, also called Matic, is a Wall-E-esque floor cleaning robot. We've built what amounts to "full self-driving in the home” with real-time 3D mapping, adaptive path-tracking, and a precise semantic understanding of the home. Our breakthroughs in spatial AI allow Matic to work reliably in real homes, using only RGB cameras and neural networks running on-device.

Privacy First

What happens in the home, stays in the home. Our robots are private by design, with all data processing performed by the robot itself, not in the cloud.

Our Approach

Before the iPhone, consumers adopted several distinct devices; cell phones, PDAs, and portable music players each served a particular need. We believe in a similar progression for home robotics, starting with single-purpose robots and building iteratively toward more complex capabilities over time.

Our Culture

Matic is a tight-knit and collaborative team, singularly focused on building products our customers will cherish. We're ultra-hardworking people committed to solving tough problems that save precious time and energy.

About the role

As an Industrial Engineer, you'll architect and build on our entire production ecosystem - from defining complex electromechanical test fixtures to deploying automated inspection systems that ensure every robot meets our exacting standards. You'll be the leader who helps transforms our production floor into a precision operation capable of scaling from hundreds to thousands of units monthly.

If you're an engineer who loves building sophisticated manufacturing systems, gets excited about efficiency and continuous improvements, and thrives when solving complex production challenges with both technical depth and operational leadership, we'd love to talk to you about engineering the future of robotic manufacturing.

What you'll do

  • Architect manufacturing execution systems (MES) and database structures for full product traceability and genealogy

  • Perform capability studies (Cpk/Ppk) and gauge R&R analysis to validate measurement systems

  • Define and develop process takt times and improvements to increase reliability

  • Drive failure analysis using techniques like 8D, fishbone diagrams, and DOE to help solve complex production issues

  • Design production line layouts using simulation tools and time-motion studies to optimize material flow

  • Develop predictive maintenance systems for production equipment using sensor data and analytics

  • Create automated test scripts and sequences for functional testing, working closely with software teams

  • Build error-proofing (poka-yoke) systems to prevent assembly and quality issues

  • Partner with design engineering to implement DFM/DFA improvements based on production data and failure analysis

  • Mentor and guide production technicians on equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance

  • Design and build custom electromechanical test fixtures for validating incoming subassemblies including motor assemblies, sensor modules, and PCBAs

  • Develop automated inspection systems using vision systems, force/torque sensors, and custom measurement equipment

  • Engineer production test stations for airflow characterization, acoustic measurement, motion calibration, and performance validation

  • Create data acquisition and analysis systems to capture real-time production metrics and enable statistical process control

  • Design assembly tooling, jigs, and fixtures to ensure repeatable, high-quality assembly processes

  • Develop and implement automated calibration sequences and software integration for production test equipment

What we look for

  • Technical degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering for complex electromechanical products

  • Strong understanding of measurement systems including CMMs, vision systems, and custom metrology

  • Proven track record of scaling production systems from prototype to high-volume manufacturing

  • Ability to write technical specifications for custom equipment and manage equipment vendors

  • Strong project management skills with ability to lead cross-functional technical initiatives

  • Comfort with fast-paced environment requiring rapid prototyping and iteration

  • Expert-level skills in designing and building test fixtures using actuators, sensors, DAQ systems, and control software

  • Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for fixture and tooling design

  • Experience with test automation using Python, LabVIEW, or similar platforms

  • Hands-on experience with motion control, servo systems, and PLC programming

  • Knowledge of statistical analysis tools (Minitab, JMP) and Six Sigma methodologies

  • Experience with database design and implementation for production data management

  • Experience with robotics, automation, or AGV systems is highly desirable

  • High level of maturity, ownership, and pride in your work

  • Excitement about building production systems from first principles

We'd love to hear from you if...

  • You are genuinely motivated to help those around you

  • You are passionate about learning outside of your normal comfort zones

  • You love diagnosing complex technical issues

  • You are excited to do great work
