The Senior Engineer supports manufacturing process improvement projects. Coordinated with our Lean/Continuous Improvement system, the Senior Engineer works with minimal supervision to lead complex and difficult projects to improve quality, increase efficiency and throughput and removes waste from our manufacturing processes. This includes re-design of manufacturing areas, improving tooling and fixturing, and researching and recommending equipment for manufacturing and material handling to support manufacturing process improvement. The Senior Engineer also mentors Engineers and Engineering Technicians.

  • Works with Production Area Managers, Department Supervisors and floor personnel to optimize product flow within the plant and to prioritize removing bottlenecks
  • Optimizes plant layout and leads all new equipment implementation, consistent with lean principles
  • Consults with Product Engineering to optimize the product, making recommendations of engineering changes to improve throughput, improve quality, and improve manufacturability
  • Recommends improvements to work methods and/or procedures, including tooling, fixturing, and/or equipment
  • Provides information to support return-on-investment calculations for capital expenditures
  • Provides guidance in safety on new projects, existing projects, and other safety concerns as they arise
  • Uses cross functional knowledge gained from manufacturing experience to guide projects in the right direction

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology from an accredited institution required; Master's degree preferred
  • Formal education/training in principles of lean manufacturing and quality management preferred
  • 7+ years of work experience preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, as well as experience with team collaboration software
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively disseminate and present information to all internal and external customers
  • Proficiency in CAD required, with knowledge of Solidworks preferred
  • Education, training and experience in the implementation and maintenance of continuous improvement activities including principles of Lean and Six Sigma preferred
  • Experience with problem solving techniques such as 5 Whys, A3, and PDCA preferred
  • Excellent time management skills, flexible and adaptive thinking and strong leadership skills
  • Ability to work in a team-based environment
  • Ability to successfully coordinate multiple priority projects in a fast-paced environment to drive goals to completion is required
  • The compensation range(s) identified below are a good faith estimate of the salary expected to be paid as performed from these locations. Actual salaries may vary based on compensable factors including but not limited to skillset, experience, education and training, and other relevant business and organizational factors. Most candidates will start in the lower half of the range. The range for this position is $92,000-$126,000.
