We are seeking a skilled and reliable professional to join our International Reporting and Tax Compliance team at SKELAR as Senior international accountant. In this role you will take ownership of VAT compliance across multiple jurisdictions and play a key role in shaping and scaling the new accounting function. As Senior international accountant, you’ll coordinate VAT reporting, lead key compliance initiatives in new countries, and help us make the strategic transition of accounting to ERP system. The main functions of this role include:
● Lead the preparation and coordination of VAT filings across the Group, ensuring accuracy and full
compliance with reporting deadlines.
● Own indirect tax expansion into new jurisdictions (e.g., Malta, UAE etc), including scoping,
registrations, and process setup.
● Manage intercompany transactions from a VAT perspective, ensuring compliance and identifying
opportunities for tax efficiency.
● Continuously assess and improve internal processes to enhance efficiency, automation, and
accuracy in tax reporting.
● Provide independent analysis on VAT matters and support stakeholders with actionable guidance.
● Monitor regulatory changes, assess their impact on the business, and ensure timely
implementation.
● Forecast VAT obligations, monitor cash flow impacts, and ensure all payments are made
accurately and on time.
● Lead VAT refund processes (e.g., Cyprus) and ensure optimal outcomes.
● Taking part in designing and building the international accounting function from the ground up,
including process mapping, documentation, and control frameworks.
● Taking part in the transition of accounting to ERP system (e.g., Business Central), including
requirements gathering, data migration planning, system configuration, and user testing.
● Developing standardized accounting workflows and reporting structures across multiple entities
and jurisdictions to ensure consistency and compliance.
● Identifying and implementing process improvements and automation opportunities to enhance the
efficiency and scalability of international accounting operations.
● Establishing a reliable month-end and year-end close process across legal entities.
● Building and maintaining a clear chart of accounts and accounting policies aligned with group
standards and local statutory requirements.
Skills and experience needed to join the board:
● Minimum 4 years of experience in either Big-4/second-tier audit firms or top local or international
businesses in an international accounting role.
● Understanding of general principles of VAT taxation and IFRS
● Ability to focus on details to ensure and maintain data accuracy
● Structured thinking and excellent organizational skills, ability to effectively handle multiple projects
simultaneously
●Soundanalytical,problem-solvingskills
● Strong communication skills, and ability to convince opponents of the truth of one’s judgments
● Proactive self-starter, with proven ability to initiate business changes
● Completed or in progress ACCA will be a strong plus
● Upper-intermediate English, both written and oral
● Proficient in Excel and other MS Office / Google tools
