What you will do
- Be part of one of the world's largest Payroll Modernization programs, delivering payroll solutions that support more than 1.6 million associates every month across a highly complex enterprise ecosystem.
- Design, build, and enhance payroll capabilities across SAP Payroll, supporting accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing at enterprise scale.
- Lead the design and implementation of payroll features including payroll calculations, retroactive accounting, taxation, garnishments, benefits deductions, time integration, off-cycle payments, payroll corrections, and year-end activities.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, HR, Finance, Tax, and Compliance teams to translate business requirements into scalable and supportable payroll solutions.
- Configure and optimize payroll schemas, PCRs, wage types, payroll functions, and payroll processing frameworks while ensuring maintainability and adherence to established standards.
- Support complex payroll requirements, including multi-state taxation, federal, state, and local tax regulations, supplemental payments, wage attachments, and evolving legislative requirements.
- Drive payroll solution quality through detailed design reviews, impact assessments, payroll testing strategies, and production readiness activities.
- Investigate and resolve complex payroll issues by performing root cause analysis, payroll result validation, schema and PCR debugging, payroll cluster analysis, and reconciliation activities.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver seamless integrations between payroll, time management, HR systems, finance applications, tax providers, banking partners, and third-party vendors.
- Contribute to payroll modernization efforts by identifying opportunities to simplify processes, reduce technical debt, improve automation, and enhance payroll operational efficiency.
- Support payroll year-end activities, tax updates, compliance changes, audit inquiries, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Champion operational excellence by improving payroll reliability, scalability, performance, observability, and supportability while maintaining a strong focus on associate experience and business outcomes.
What you will bring
- 10+ years of experience implementing, enhancing, and supporting large-scale SAP Payroll solutions, with deep expertise in U.S. Payroll processing and statutory compliance.
- Strong expertise across key U.S. payroll localization domains, including BSI TaxFactory, U.S. Taxation, Retroactive Accounting, Garnishments, Benefits Processing, Off-Cycle Payroll, and Year-End Processing (W-2, Quarter-End, and Tax Updates).
- Hands-on experience with SAP HCM Payroll and/or SAP Employee Central Payroll (ECP), including schema design, PCR development, wage type configuration, payroll troubleshooting, and payroll operations support.
- Strong understanding of U.S. payroll tax regulations, including multi-state taxation, reciprocity agreements, resident/non-resident taxation, supplemental wage processing, and wage attachments.
- Proven experience designing and delivering integrated payroll solutions involving platforms such as SuccessFactors, Workday, ServiceNow, SAP Finance (FI/CO), banking systems, tax providers, benefits vendors, and custom enterprise applications.
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled capabilities and automation to accelerate payroll build, testing, validation, payroll comparison, release management, and upgrade activities.
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with experience debugging payroll calculations, payroll schemas, PCRs, payroll clusters, interfaces, and reconciliation issues.
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and supportable payroll solutions.
- Demonstrated experience leading critical payroll initiatives through design, testing, deployment, and production stabilization.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate across Payroll, HR, Finance, Tax, Compliance, Product, and Engineering teams.
