Icon’s Instant Payments Framework (IPF) provides institutions with faster and more cost-effective access to instant payments through an advanced, highly flexible, software framework capable of seamless integration with core and back-office applications.

Together, we are looking for an:

Implementation Engineer (Java)
to join our Engineering team. Belgrade team consists of 25 Java developers who are divided into squads and collaborating daily with colleagues from the UK. Knowledge and development are the strong sides of the team that is working on challenging projects with the continuous possibility to develop and grow further. In this role, you will work hands-on on the development of IPF-based applications with clients, using Java, Spring and Akka to deliver real-time payment solutions. You will contribute across the development lifecycle, solve complex engineering and implementation challenges, and work closely with clients throughout the delivery process.

Your responsibilities:

• Develop and implement IPF-based applications together with clients

• Play a key role in product engineering, following TDD and BDD practices

• Write high-quality code following established development standards and patterns

• Contribute to design decisions and technical discussions within the engineering team

• Take ownership of engineering deliverables throughout the client delivery process

• Resolve complex development and implementation issues and provide handover to IPF Support where required

• Share IPF best practices and support clients throughout the implementation process

• Contribute to the IPF client knowledge base and help coach and support customers

• Work within an Agile/Kanban environment while continuously contributing to higher engineering and quality standards

Your profile:

• Strong hands-on experience with Java 11+, Spring framework and related technologies

• Good understanding of asynchronous request handling

• Experience building highly available and resilient distributed systems

• Experience with event-sourced and event-driven solutions

• Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment processes

• Experience working in Agile environments such as Kanban or Scrum and with tools such as Jira and Confluence

• Knowledge of document-based data stores such as MongoDB

• Previous experience with real-time messaging systems such as Kafka and JMS is an advantage

• Experience with Akka or another reactive framework is an advantage

• Experience with automated environment provisioning using Ansible is an advantage

• DevOps experience within highly transactional software environments is an advantage

• Knowledge and/or experience with Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage

• Knowledge of Unix system administration and scripting is an advantage
