  • Core Knowledge & Skills: Designs complex network and hybrid‑cloud solutions; implements security controls, DR/BCP, and automated IaC with deployment pipelines; performs advanced performance tuning.

As your initial project assignment, you will support the unique needs of our client as a iData Systems Engineer - Senior.
Project Summary

The Senior iData Systems Engineer will provide operational, engineering, and application support across mission-critical systems within a secure environment. This role supports accredited production, pre-production, and staging environments and requires close coordination with multiple agency technical teams. The engineer will play a key role in infrastructure operations, application support, systems integration, and lifecycle management for enterprise systems supporting government mission needs.


Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain system operations for applications and supporting infrastructure across production, pre-production, and staging environments within the system accreditation boundary.

  • Coordinate with agency technical partners (e.g., ICAM for authentication, on-prem cloud/vSphere teams, network teams supporting F5 load balancers) to diagnose user access, routing, and performance issues.

  • Manage and maintain primary and secondary on‑prem cloud environments to support high availability and failover deployments.

  • Manage existing and implement new application service accounts for REST API consumption by external systems.

  • Provide customer and stakeholder support for quarterly application releases, enhancements, new features, and bug fixes within an Agile Release Train.

  • Deliver end‑user helpdesk and inquiry support for application data managers and system users.

  • Assist with system certification, accreditation, patching, and compliance activities.

  • Develop and maintain SOPs and Quick Reference Guides for users and administrators.


Systems Engineering Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and support additions and changes to network hardware, server infrastructure, operating systems, and attached devices.

  • Perform investigation, analysis, configuration, installation, testing, and troubleshooting of network and infrastructure components.

  • Provide day‑to‑day operational support, including monitoring system utilization, performance, and response times.

  • Troubleshoot issues at both the physical and logical network layers using diagnostic tools and protocols.

  • Participate in planning, design reviews, and implementation of new voice and data network infrastructure.

  • Perform systems management and integration functions, including virtualization and network administration.

  • Maintain network standards and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP).

  • Provide technical consultation, mentoring, and training to IT staff as designated by the government.

  • Design, deploy, test, certify, patch, and maintain storage, backup systems, and dependent applications.

  • Provide top‑level technical expertise for client/server architectures and enterprise system strategies.

  • Advise leadership on technology selection, system feasibility, infrastructure planning, and future enhancements.


|Application Development & Integration Support
  • Support design, development, testing, and management of application development projects tied to IT infrastructure.

  • Integrate third‑party components and develop custom capabilities; modify existing code as required.

  • Recommend process improvements and automate O&M tasks where applicable.

  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle (planning, requirements, development, testing, QA).

  • Support code architecture reviews, milestone evaluations, and development best‑practice knowledge transfer.

  • Assist with data‑intensive applications, analytics, and computational processing initiatives as directed by lead architects.


Required for This Opportunity
  • Active Top Secret (TS) clearance with SCI eligibility.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Minimum 8 years of systems engineering and application support experience.

  • Hands-on experience managing and configuring IIS and IIS‑hosted applications.

  • Proficiency with SQL Server querying, maintenance, and performance tuning.

  • Experience with Microsoft .NET, AppFabric, ASP.NET MVC, repository patterns, SharePoint Server, and FAST Search.

  • Strong understanding of systems operations across multi‑environment deployments.

  • Experience supporting Agile development and release processes.


Nice to Have Skills
  • Knowledge of Web API, ASP.NET Core, and Entity Framework ORM.

  • Familiarity with Git or equivalent source control tools.

  • Experience with virtualization technologies and on‑prem cloud environments.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

At AIS, we are committed to offering competitive and fair compensation that reflects the skills, experience, and contributions of each team member. The targeted base salary range for this role is $102,000-$154,000 per year. Please note that this range is provided as a guideline and the final offer will be based on several factors, including but not limited to, skillset and competencies, level of experience, education, certifications, and location. We value transparency in our hiring process and are happy to discuss how your unique qualifications align with our compensation structure during the interview process.
