The Role

As a System Administrator at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. You’ll be at the forefront of new technology and modernization, working with some of our biggest clients – which means some of the biggest in the world.
There’s never a typical day as a System Administrator at Kyndryl, because no two projects are alike. You’ll be managing systems data for clients and providing day-to-day solutions and security compliance. You’ll oversee a queue of assignments and work directly with technicians, prioritizing tickets to deliver the best solutions to our clients.

• Manage and maintain MQ Queue Managers and MQ installations on IBM i, including configuration, troubleshooting, patching, and version upgrades.
• Design, implement, and support MQ architectures on AS/400, including creation and management of MQ channels, queues, listeners, and related objects.
• Implement and manage MQ security components, including authentication, authorization, SSL/TLS encryption, and user access controls.

• Monitor MQ performance and resource utilization across IBM i environments, proactively addressing bottlenecks and tuning system configurations.
• Diagnose and resolve complex MQ-related issues, including performance degradation, channel failures, high message depth, and system-level errors.
• Optimize MQ workflows, connection points, and message distribution patterns to enhance throughput and reliability.

• Work closely with application developers and cross-platform teams to design and implement MQ connectivity between IBM i systems, x86-based applications, and distributed MQ environments.
• Provide expert guidance on best practices for MQ integration, message flow design, and application consumption/production patterns.
• Support development, QA, and production teams with MQ-related troubleshooting, testing, and deployment activities.

• Ensure MQ configurations and operations adhere to industry standards, organizational policies, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain secure and compliant MQ environments through regular configuration reviews, auditing, and risk mitigation activities.
