IAM Software Engineer (Node.js/Python)

Job Title: Software Engineer

 (This is a 2-year direct contract with permanent benefits)

We are seeking a Software Engineer to build secure, scalable Identity and Access Management (IAM) automation services for Whole-of-Government. The role focuses on developing backend services, APIs, automated testing capabilities and enterprise integrations with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph and SailPoint to support identity lifecycle, access governance and operational workflows.

Key Responsibilities

·       Design, develop and maintain secure IAM applications, backend services, APIs and automation workflows.

·       Integrate with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft Graph to automate users, groups, enterprise applications, Administrative Units, PIM, Conditional Access Policies and access governance workflows.

·       Integrate with SailPoint to automate users, groups, entitlement management, provisioning and access review workflows.

·       Develop and maintain automated test suites, contract tests and validation checks for APIs, service integrations and critical business workflows.

·       Support Java-based backend utilities or plugins using Core Java, object-oriented design, encapsulation and dynamic attribute or parameter processing where required.

·       Implement secure authentication and authorisation capabilities using SSO, MFA, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and SAML.

·       Deploy code through CI/CD pipelines with testing, security scanning, release controls and rollback practices.

·       Produce clear technical documentation, including API specifications, sequence diagrams, runbooks and operational guides.

·       Related studies in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related field.

·       2-5 years of hands-on software engineering experience using Node.js, JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java or equivalent technologies.

·       Experience building RESTful APIs, backend services, automation scripts and enterprise system integrations.

·       Experience establishing automated test suites and contract testing practices to validate backend APIs, service integrations and critical business workflows.

·       Familiarity with Java, including Core Java, object-oriented design, dynamic attribute or parameter processing and encapsulation for backend utility or plugin development.

·       Working knowledge of IAM concepts, including identity lifecycle, RBAC, SSO, MFA, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect and SAML.

·       Familiarity with Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Graph API, SailPoint, DevOps practices, GitLab, Docker, Jira and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate.

·       Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate, Azure Security Engineer Associate or DevOps Engineer Expert.

·       SailPoint IdentityNow Engineer, SailPoint Identity Security Cloud or equivalent SailPoint certification.

·       Security certification such as CISSP, CCSP, CompTIA Security+ or equivalent.

·       Experience with Terraform, Kubernetes, secure coding, SAST, secrets management or Zero Trust practices.
