About Scaliance
Scaliance is a consulting firm specializing in architecture, engineering, landscape architecture, and urban design. We deliver cost-effective, high-quality design and production services to North American and international clients. Our Cairo hub supports multidisciplinary projects that integrate civil engineering, hydrology, and infrastructure design. Team members work across wet utilities alongside architects, landscape architects, and engineers, applying North American standards to global projects.
Role Overview
We are seeking an Intermediate Hydraulic Modeling Engineer to lead and execute hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for stormwater and wastewater systems with a primary focus on PCSWMM (SWMM5). The role covers model building, calibration, scenario testing, and design support for conveyance networks, storage facilities, green infrastructure/LID, and flood risk mitigation in urban contexts. You will translate modeling outputs into constructible designs and clear technical documentation consistent with Canadian and U.S. practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, validate, and maintain PCSWMM models for combined/separate sewer and stormwater networks (or other equivalent modelling software)
- Perform hydrologic analyses (design storms, IDF curves, temporal distributions, baseflow separation).
- Conduct hydraulic simulations (steady/unsteady flow, surcharge, pressurized flow).
- Develop and assess LID/BMP strategies (bioretention, permeable pavements, detention systems, green roofs).
- Execute capacity assessments and flood risk evaluations.
- Calibrate models using flow/level/rainfall datasets and QA/QC procedures.
- Conduct scenario analyses for climate resiliency, master planning, and growth servicing.
- Produce design inputs: profiles, pipe sizing, detention/retention facilities, orifice/weir/pump controls.
- Prepare drawings, calculations, and technical reports aligned with North American standards.
- Integrate models with GIS (catchment delineation, DEM use, land-use mapping) and coordinate with CAD/BIM teams.
- Support interdisciplinary collaboration to integrate utilities into urban and infrastructure projects.
- Perform peer review and QC of models/reports; mentor junior staff on workflows.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering (Master’s an asset).
- 3–6 years of experience in urban drainage/hydraulic modeling and utility design.
- PCSWMM (mandatory) with proven project application; familiarity with SWMM5 concepts required.
- Knowledge of HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, or InfoWorks ICM is an asset.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and GIS
