We manufacture and distribute high-quality foodservice equipment, including commercial mixers, slicers, electric and gas cooking equipment, and food preparation solutions used in restaurants, schools, healthcare facilities, supermarkets, and other commercial settings worldwide.

We are seeking a motivated and hands-on HR Generalist to join our Dayton team. This role offers an excellent opportunity for an HR professional looking to expand their experience across Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Facilities while working closely with leadership in a collaborative manufacturing environment.

Position Summary

The HR Generalist supports the Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Facilities functions for the Dayton facility. This hands-on role partners with employees, leaders, and corporate teams to support recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, safety initiatives, regulatory compliance, and facility coordination while helping create a safe, productive, and engaging workplace.

Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Coordinate and lead the recruiting process for all positions, including sourcing candidates, scheduling interviews, maintaining applicant records, and supporting hiring decisions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and select qualified candidates.
  • Coordinate and continuously improve the new hire onboarding experience.
  • Assist with new employee orientation and onboarding activities.
  • Partner with managers by providing guidance on company policies, employment practices, and performance management.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS data.
  • Support compliance with employment laws, company policies, and government reporting requirements.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding benefits, policies, and HR programs while promoting available self-service resources.
  • Serve as backup support for bi-weekly payroll processing.

Environmental Health & Safety (EHS)  

  • Partner with leaders across the organization to promote and maintain a strong safety culture with a goal of zero workplace injuries.
  • Coordinate required safety training programs.
  • Coordinate safety incident investigations with department leaders, including root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Manage relationships with safety vendors and service providers.
  • Serve as a resource on OSHA regulations and safety compliance while helping ensure adherence to applicable requirements.
  • Partner with Middleby's Corporate EHS team on safety initiatives and reporting.
  • Assist in developing and implementing programs that identify and reduce workplace hazards.
  • Coordinate the site's cross-functional Safety Committee.
  • Support safety audits and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Facilities  

  • Coordinate maintenance activities for buildings, grounds, and facility infrastructure.
  • Schedule and oversee contractors and service providers, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, landscaping, and other facility services.
  • Review and process facility-related quotes and invoices.
  • Maintain the Facilities portal within the Middleby HIVE system.
  • Complete the annual Middleby Sustainability Report.
  • Support facility improvement projects as needed.

Qualifications  

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Three to five years of experience in Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, Facilities, or a related role.
  • Professional HR or Safety certification is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of employment law and OSHA regulations.
  • Experience maintaining confidential employee information and HR systems.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS/payroll systems.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred but not required.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Environmental Health & Safety, Business or related discipline
  • 1-3 years experience in Human Resources or EHS related role
  • Professional HR or Safety Certification
