The Human Resources Specialist provides overall service and support to management and employees in the area of human resources, including, but may not be limited to payroll, benefits, employee relations, and labor relations.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities                                                                            

  • Consistently meet all Shell FCU Service Commitments; Shell FCU Employee Creed and Shell FCU Service Distinctions.
  • Accountable to maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable rules and regulations required within the scope of duties, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
  • Required to attend annual training sessions as instructed or scheduled.
  • Perform job duties and responsibilities in compliance to SFCU policies, procedures, philosophy, and standards of performance.
  • Assist with payroll processing and ensure employee records, compensation data, and other payroll-related information are accurate and up to date.
  • Assist with enrolling eligible employees into applicable benefit plans within appropriate deadline dates.
  • Assist with the maintenance and processing of all benefits billing.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of policies and compliance requirements and ensure timely updates and distribution of policies to employees.
  • Proactively address, or bring to management’s attention, employee issues and/or concerns.
  • Serve as a liaison between the department and relevant vendors, facilitating communication and ensuring all vendor information, documentation, and records are accurately maintained.
  • Educate and assist employees with benefits-related questions and approvals during open enrollment and throughout the year, supporting HR’s role as a visible and accessible partner to staff.
  • Work with the Learning Department as needed to further enhance employee development.
  • Provide friendly and welcoming assistance to all employees.
  • Provide backup support to HR team members as needed to maintain smooth and consistent HR operations.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills

Experience:

Minimum two years related experience.

Education / Training:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

Job Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge and understanding of credit union philosophy and culture.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Consistently demonstrate a welcoming and helpful demeanor.
  • Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues, by using good judgment that is in consistent with the credit union’s standards, practices, policies, procedures, and regulation and/or government laws.
  • Have a basic knowledge of all aspects of HR.
  • Be practical in completing tasks and assignments.
  • Must possess professional verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in open-concept workspace/environment.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to bend and stand. May at times be able to lift, carry and/or move up to 15 pounds.

Working Conditions

Exposure to potential hazardous conditions-robbery. Employees are to receive detailed instructions and procedures to be followed to minimize risk.
