The Role:

We're seeking a strategic, collaborative, and people and business-focused Human Resources Manager who brings strong business acumen, sound judgment, curiosity, and a passion for developing people and organizations. In this role, you'll serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders, driving talent strategies, employee engagement, organizational effectiveness, performance management, and workforce planning while partnering with HR leaders across Toyota Material Handling North America (TMHNA) to support enterprise-wide initiatives. Success in this role requires balancing local business needs with organizational priorities, building strong relationships across multiple locations, and supporting Associates and leaders across all shifts. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Partner with departmental leaders for the departments they support on various strategic initiatives, including organizational engagement and culture, transformation and business restructuring, workforce planning, performance management, succession planning, talent development and compliance.
  • Collaborate with HR leaders across other TMHNA sites to ensure alignment on enterprise-wide HR initiatives, share best practices, and support organizational consistency.
  • Think and act with an enterprise-wide mindset while effectively balancing local business needs and broader organizational priorities simultaneously.
  • Oversee the movement of talent across the organization, including intra-company transfers (ICT program).
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve the Associate experience and partner with leaders to develop and implement innovative, sustainable solutions.
  • Working with HR colleagues, develops policies and programs to attract, retain, and promote a diverse workforce.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide leadership and executive coaching and development.
  • Manage annual processes i.e. our annual performance review process. Provides ongoing guidance and support on performance management.
  • Partner with our HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) including Talent Acquisition, Organizational Development, Total Rewards, Employee Health and Safety and Sustainability to collaborate on companywide initiatives, projects and implementation.
  • Interpret TMHNA policies and communicate policy changes and additions throughout the organization.
  • Works closely with management and Associates to improve working relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  • Manages job and organizational structures in partnership with HR leadership and business leaders.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to the HR Business Partner team.
  • Works with business leaders to manage associate discipline and terminations consistently and in accordance with company policy.
  • Provides support, partners with Center of Excellence team and guidance to HR Business Partners, management, and staff when complex, specialized, or sensitive questions and issues arise, including administering reasonable accommodations, conducting workplace investigations, and managing employee separations.
  • Analyzes trends and partners with Center of Excellence teams in compensation and benefits; to research and recommend competitive base pay and incentive programs to attract and retain top talent.
  • Works with Center of Excellence teams to manage time and attendance processes and various leave programs.
  • Maintains compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, as well as HR best practices.
  • Stays current on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Participates in Associate and leadership meetings to understand Associate engagement and help foster an equitable workplace.
  • Maintains the utmost confidentiality of information.
  • Supports all operational shifts as needed. This position primarily works standard business hours but requires flexibility to periodically adjust schedules to meet with second- and third-shift leaders and Associates.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • 7–10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including supporting business leaders in a strategic HR Business Partner and HR leadership role.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with leaders and HR colleagues on talent, organizational, and employee relations initiatives.
  • Strong and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong and demonstrated communication and influencing skills.

 

What Sets You Apart:

  • MBA or other Master's degree.
  • SHRM-SCP and/or SPHR certification.
  • Experience supporting a manufacturing operation.
  • Experience collaborating across multiple business units or locations within a multi-site organization.
  • Proven ability to think strategically with an enterprise-wide mindset while balancing local business priorities.

 

Where and When You’ll Work:

  • This is an in-person role located at our Muscatine, IA office—ideal for those who thrive in a hands-on, team-oriented environment.
  • This position primarily works standard business hours but requires flexibility to periodically adjust schedules to meet with second- and third-shift leaders and Associates.

 

What Your Total Compensation & Benefits Package will look like:

 

Salary - $106,000 - $130,000 per year. Compensation depends on the selected candidate’s education and experience.

 

Relocation: This role may be eligible for relocation assistance.
