El Hogar Community is seeking a Human Resources Generalist to provide hands-on HR support to employees and managers across the organization. This is a mid-level, hands-on HR role with responsibility for recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits, leave administration, HRIS support, credentialing, and general HR administration.
The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working independently while providing responsive support to employees and managers. Paycom experience is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, resume screening, interviews, reference and background checks, and job offers.
- Coordinate onboarding, new hire paperwork, orientations, and employee setup.
- Support managers and employees with day-to-day HR questions and employee relations matters.
- Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, qualifying events, terminations, deductions, and monthly reconciliation.
- Coordinate leave of absence processes, including FMLA, CFRA, PDL, workers’ compensation, and related documentation.
- Maintain accurate employee records and support credentialing, licensing, certifications, and county classification requirements.
- Maintain and update Paycom/HRIS, including employee changes, position information, benefits, payroll-related updates, and performance management systems.
- Run HR reports and assist with HR data, audits, and compliance requirements.
- Provide payroll and timekeeping support and help resolve employee payroll questions.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure HR practices comply with applicable employment laws and regulations.
- Assist with HR policies, employee handbook updates, and general HR projects.
Supervisory Responsibilities: None.
QualificationsQualifications
- 2+ years of Human Resources experience with a bachelor’s degree, OR 6 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
- Experience administering and maintaining an HRIS; Paycom experience highly preferred.
- Experience with recruitment, benefits administration, leave administration, and employee records.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
- Credentialing experience preferred.
- Experience in a nonprofit or behavioral health setting preferred.

Skills Required
- High School diploma or GED
- Six years increasing responsibility in General Human Resources
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Public Administration, Psychology, or Human Resources Management
- Two (2+) years of full-time Human Resource experience
- Experience configuring and managing HRIS
- Paycom experience
- Computer competency: 2 years+
- 1-2 years credentialing experience
- 2-3 years experience working in Risk Management
- Experience working in a busy non-profit organization with a diverse mental health population
