Human Resources Assistant Manager - Safety, Training & Wellness
POSITION SUMMARY
Plans, directs and implements programs, activities and policy and procedures involved with safety and health, benefit, compensation, staffing, services, or plant activities and ensures compliance with legal requirements. Responsible for maintaining consistency in department processes and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Follow all company Policies and Procedures, Quality and Environmental Management Systems (QMS & EMS), Kawasaki Production System (KPS), federal, state and local laws and regulations and any other legal and compliance regulations may apply such as OSHA and HIPAA.
- Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include interviewing, employee selection, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Serves as a resource for difficult projects or problems.
- Implement programs that promote KPS and improvement ideas from personnel and coordinates implementation of those suggestions if beneficial to department's success.
- Implement and support development and career succession plans to provide growth opportunities within the department.
- Determine and set departmental goals, measuring outcome and reporting as required.
- Communicate and collaborate with other departments to improve or implement improvements, new processes or resolve issues.
- Establish, submit and monitor departmental budget.
- Gather, analyze and report statistical data to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's Human Resources policies and practices.
- Prepare, maintain and analyze departmental reports and records such as compliance training and safety records.
- Approve and/or request supplies, materials and human resources, ensuring that materials, labor and equipment are used efficiently to meet necessary targets.
- Ensure the company's compliance with government and other regulations related to functions within the department.
- Stay abreast of industry and professional trends, technology and suggest improvements.
- Assist in development, design, implementation, communication and administration of Company policies and procedures.
- Represent the organization in community or industry groups related to Human Resources related topics.
- Analyze, develop and provide: training programs, testing, evaluation procedures or modify and improve existing programs and/or procedures
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement.
- May oversee and direct the Emergency Response Contingency Plan.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education/Experience
Bachelors’ degree in related field with 3+ years in management position; or combination of education and experience in managing people or projects.
Computer Skills
Displays appropriate proficiency with computers and computer applications, including: spreadsheets (e.g., Excel), word processing (e.g., Word), presentation software (e.g., PowerPoint), databases (e.g., Access, contact management software), internet/intranet (e.g., browsers, search engines), special applications (e.g., general ledger for accounting/finance; HRIS for human resources, etc. ); can diagnose and correct minor issues with hardware and software, as needed in order to maintain records or create instructional materials.
Certifications & Licenses
Applicable compliance training may be assigned, such as First Aid & CPR and 10 hour OSHA Compliance Course
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and 3+ years in a management position, or an equivalent combination of education and experience managing people or projects
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, databases, internet or intranet tools, and HRIS applications
- Ability to diagnose and correct minor hardware and software issues as needed
