As a key member of the People Strategy team, the successful candidate will provide administrative human resources support to the People Strategy team, and assist with the day-to-day responsibilities within the department. The Human Resources (HR) Assistant will ensure a high quality level of HR service is delivered across several HR specialities.


HRIS and Records

  • Process required paperwork and HRIS actions for changes in job classification, salary increases and other related employment matters.
  • May assist with preparation of HR reports such as new hire and turnover reports.
  • Maintain internal records, which may include preparing, issuing and filing company documentation (e.g. sick leave, maternity leave, state insurance, etc.)

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Track and manage vacancies via the applicant tracking system and social media platforms.
  • Help schedule interviews and provide updates to candidates.
  • Source passive candidates through LinkedIn and other platforms.
  • Monitor all new hire paperwork and the onboarding process. 

Benefits and Payroll

  • Administer the HR elements of payroll and benefits, ensuring accurate record keeping, data management, and audit processes are followed.
  • Track and respond to all state payroll tax requests and state leave tax requirements.
  • Support annual open enrollment.

Learning and Development

  • Assist with scheduling and organizing learning and development events.
  • Maintain training and development records.

Other

  • Monitor important compliance dates and leaves of absence.
  • Prepare any HR-related documents and correspondence.
  • Answer employee HR-related queries. 
  • Provide support to other duties relevant and related to the position.

What You Bring

  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Degree in HR, HR certification or equivalent preferred
  • One year or greater of general HR experience preferred
  • Possess a genuine interest in HR with a keen sense to develop and learn
  • Proactive, with a high level to achieve, and have the ability to control your own workload
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidential information

Who You'll Work With

  • You will report to the People Strategy Director and be part of the People Strategy team.

Where You'll Work

  • You will work remotely in the Kansas City area. You must be authorized to work in the United States and able to meet for in-person meetings in the Kansas City metropolitan area.
