This is a greenfield CCGT project to be constructed with a net power capacity of 2400 MW, together with its ancillary equipment, associated infrastructure and facilities. The Project comprises the Plant and associated Electrical Special Facilities (ESF). The Plant will be located inland at a site situated approximately 50 km north-east of the City of Abu Dhabi.

This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in the full lifecycle of the project, from design and engineering to construction and operation, all within a dynamic and innovative environment. This project promises stability and long-term impact.

Location: Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, UAE (site is 40 kms from Abu Dhabi city)

Duration: Approx 30 to 36 months

Overview

As the HSE Officer for the Project Company, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the Health, Safety, and Environment aspects of the project. Working collaboratively with the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors, you will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of safety are maintained throughout the entire construction period.

Your Job Functions (Duties & Responsibilities)

HSE Oversight:

  • Implement and enforce HSE policies and procedures on the construction site.
  • Conduct regular site inspections to identify and address potential hazards.
  • Collaborate with EPC contractors to ensure compliance with local andinternational HSE regulations.

Risk Assessment:

  • Perform risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk mitigation.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans to address potential accidents or incidents.

Training and Awareness:

  • Conduct HSE training sessions for project personnel and contractors.
  • Promote a strong safety culture by fostering awareness and understanding of HSE policies and procedures.

Incident Investigation:

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain detailed records of all incidents and their resolutions.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Prepare and submit regular HSE reports to project management.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, and training sessions.

Compliance:

  • Ensure that all project activities comply with relevant HSE legislation and standards.
  • Collaborate with regulatory authorities and conduct necessary permitting activities.

Emergency Response Coordination:

  • Develop and implement emergency response procedures and coordinate drills.
  • Liaise with local emergency services to ensure a rapid and effective response in case of emergencies.


Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience as an HSE Officer in large-scale construction projects (CCGT) in the energy sector or EPC peojects.
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Relevant certifications in HSE (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) are highly desirable.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, or a related field
  • 3 to 5 years of proven experience as an HSE Officer in large-scale construction projects
  • In-depth knowledge of local and international HSE regulations and standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
