Job Description

Your Impact in this role

The HR Representative (Hard HR) plays a key role in ensuring compliant, efficient and future-proof people practices across the organization. The role reports to the HR Partner Business Services Dessel HR, Employee and Industrial Relations and works closely with the Payroll Specialist, HR Representative (Soft HR), managers and employees.

As the local subject matter expert for labour legislation, compensation & benefits, reporting and industrial relations topics, you provide expert guidance on complex HR matters and translate legislative and policy changes into practical actions for the business. You also take the lead in a variety of strategic and operational HR projects aimed at improving employee experience, compliance and operational excellence.

In the role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide expert advice to managers and HR colleagues on Belgian labour law, social legislation, HR policies and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor legislative developments and translate legal changes into practical HR policies, procedures and business actions.
  • Support and prepare complex and confidential employee cases, including disciplinary matters, exits, restructurings, settlement agreements and sensitive employee relations situations in cooperation with the HR Partner.
  • Prepare or check complex personnel cost calculations, severance calculations and other employment-related financial analyses.
  • Participate in the preparation and implementation of collective labour agreements and company-level HR policies.
  • Act as the local Compensation & Benefits point of contact and collaborate with regional and global Centres of Excellence.
  • Support salary review processes, incentive programs and benefits administration.
  • Manage and coordinate HR reporting activities, ensuring accurate and timely people data and workforce analytics.
  • Prepare HR dashboards, reports and presentations to support management decision-making.
  • Coordinate HR compliance activities and support internal and external audits.
  • Act as the HR lead for employment-related governance, documentation and control processes.
  • Support HR budgeting activities and workforce cost planning processes.
  • Lead and participate in HR projects related to compensation & benefits, mobility, job classification, pension and insurance programs and process optimization.
  • Coordinate and monitor external HR-related vendors and service providers where applicable.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve efficiency, compliance and employee experience.
  • Provide operational HR support when required and act as back-up for key HR activities within the HR team.

Key areas of responsibility

Operational HR

  • Act as expert and coordinate the payroll specialist in complex (payroll) matters
  • Lead diverse HR projects such as Flex income plan, Mobility budget,...

Industrial & Employee Relations

  • Support employee relations and social dialogue initiatives.
  • Prepare documentation and analyses for consultation and negotiation processes.
  • Contribute to constructive relationships with employee representatives and internal stakeholders.
  • Support the implementation of collective agreements and employment-related policies.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Act as local subject matter expert for compensation and benefits programs.
  • Support salary benchmarking, grading and reward initiatives.
  • Coordinate local benefits programs and liaise with external providers.
  • Support mobility, insurance and pension-related processes.

Compliance & Employment Law

  • Monitor legislative developments and ensure HR processes remain compliant.
  • Conduct legal assessments of HR practices and advise management on associated risks.
  • Support investigations, audits and compliance reviews.

HR Analytics & Reporting

  • Manage HR reporting and workforce analytics.
  • Translate HR data into meaningful insights and recommendations.
  • Support strategic workforce planning through accurate people metrics.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor's or master’s degree in human resources, Law, Business Administration or equivalent through experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HR with strong exposure to labour law, compensation & benefits, industrial relations or HR compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of Belgian social legislation and employment law.
  • Experience in employee relations and handling confidential HR matters.
  • Knowledge of compensation and benefits practices and HR reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret legislation and translate it into practical business solutions.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
  • High degree of integrity, confidentiality and professional judgment.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Advanced Excel and reporting skills are an asset.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English; French is considered an asset.
