Sun City Hilton Head Community Association, a multi-award-winning Del Webb Active Adult Community in beautiful Hilton Head, SC, is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to support our leadership team and 150 employees.

Position Summary:
The Human Resources Manager partners with leadership and employees to oversee day-to-day HR operations, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, benefits, leave administration, compensation, performance management, policy development, and employment compliance. This role also serves as the primary liaison with the organization’s Administrative Service Organization (ASO) and outside employment counsel.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide HR guidance and onsite support to employees, managers, and department heads.
- Manage recruitment, job postings, candidate pipelines, interviews, offers, background checks, and new-hire onboarding.
- Maintain accurate personnel records and HRIS transactions, including benefits, time off, status changes, and terminations.
- Administer employee benefits, FMLA and other leaves, workers’ compensation claims, and unemployment matters.
- Coach leaders on employee relations, performance management, corrective action, policy interpretation, and employment compliance.
- Oversee performance evaluations, job classifications, salary grades, and compensation programs.
- Develop and update HR policies, coordinate required reporting, and support compliance with applicable employment laws.
- Partner with the ASO and outside counsel on benefits, employee relations, and legal matters.
- Identify training needs, deliver employee and manager training, and coordinate HR communications and employee activities.
- Support leadership and board initiatives and perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of employee benefits, health and dental insurance, COBRA, FMLA, workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, 401(k) plans, FLSA, job classifications, compensation, recruitment, performance management, acquisitions, employee relations, and related compliance requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, coaching, counseling, customer service, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to advise clients and influence executive leadership.
- Professional, articulate, empathetic, and relationship-oriented, with sound judgment, discretion, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Self-motivated, flexible, and detail-oriented, with strong time-management skills and the ability to take ownership, anticipate needs, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, complete high-quality work with minimal direction and a sense of urgency.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
- This position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely requires sitting, standing, walking, and using a computer and other standard office equipment.

Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree
- Five years of related Human Resources experience
- Experience with employment laws, benefits administration, recruiting, policy administration, employee relations, and training
- One year of experience in a lead or senior Human Resources role
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
