POSITION SUMMARY
DEFINITION
Performs professional level duties related to Human Resources, including responsibilities in the following functional areas: employee relations, training, employment, recruitment, compliance and events/recognition. Assists the Manager of Human Resources to ensure operational effectiveness and exceptional customer service to the employee population of the HGMC and MGMC. Performs all other duties as assigned and to do other work as required.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way would be:
Education
Possession of Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major study in human resource management or related field; or Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification through SHRM, or completion of an accredited Human Resources certification program preferred. Significant previous experience may be substituted for degree/certification.
Experience
Minimum four (4) years in Human Resources with hands-on experience across multiple HR areas, including: Recruitment and onboarding, employee relations and conflict resolution, performance management and training support, HR compliance and employment law knowledge
Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California driver’s license. Employees must maintain a driving record, which meets the insurability requirements of KPC, Inc.
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP, or completion of an accredited Human Resources certification program preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
Knowledge of:
Employment law and compliance: knowledge of federal, state, and local labor laws, including FMLA, CFRA, ADA, OSHA, and EEO regulations. Joint Commission Standards pertaining to the Management of Human Resources
HR Policies and Procedures: creation, revision, and enforcement of company policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures to maintain consistency and fairness across the organization
The employee lifecycle, such as recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations.HR Information System (HRIS): Managing employee records and reporting. Microsoft Office.
Knowledge of health benefits enrollment, leave of absences, worker’s compensation claims, and payroll processes
Ability to:
Recruitment and Onboarding: Develop job descriptions, post job openings, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and facilitate new hire onboarding
Employee Relations: Address employee concerns, mediate conflicts, and foster engagement initiatives to maintain a positive workplace culture
Compliance and Policy Management: Ensure HR policies comply with labor laws, maintain records, conduct audits, and submit required reports such as the California Pay Data report.
Performance Management and Training: Facilitate performance reviews, support training and development programs, and assist managers with employee development
HR Systems and Reporting: Maintain HRIS systems, generate reports, and provide data for strategic workforce planning
Manage multiple HR functions simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records.
Problem-solve complex HR issues and support management in decision-making
Communicate effectively at all levels of the organization. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Skills Required
- Minimum four (4) years in Human Resources with hands-on experience across recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training support, and HR compliance
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field
- PHR or SHRM-CP certification or completion of an accredited Human Resources certification program
- Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting

- Employee relations skills including conflict mediation and engagement initiatives

- Strong verbal and written communication skills
