Job Summary

The Human Resources Coordinator/Recruiter supports the day-to-day Human Resources function with a strong focus on recruiting, hiring, and onboarding. This position works closely with managers to identify staffing needs, attract qualified candidates, coordinate the hiring process, and support new employees through onboarding.

This is a hands-on HR position that requires regular interaction with employees and management throughout the operation, including warehouse and transportation areas. The position also assists with general HR administration, safety training, workers' compensation, and provides HR coverage when the Human Resources Manager is unavailable.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Recruiting and Hiring

  • Manage and support all phases of recruiting and hiring for warehouse, transportation, office, and other positions.
  • Partner with managers to identify staffing needs and maintain job descriptions and postings.
  • Source and promote open positions through job boards, social media, schools, job fairs, and community resources.
  • Create recruiting content, including job announcements, social media posts, and hiring materials.
  • Review applications, screen candidates, coordinate interviews, and maintain candidate communication.
  • Coordinate pre-employment requirements, including background checks, drug testing, and employment verifications.
  • Assist with employment offers and maintain accurate recruiting records.
  • Attend recruiting events and build relationships with schools and workforce organizations.

Onboarding and HR Support

  • Coordinate onboarding with new employees and department managers.
  • Prepare new hire paperwork and conduct new hire orientation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HRIS information.
  • Maintain a visible HR presence throughout the operation, including warehouse and transportation areas.
  • Assist with employee communications, benefits, training, and other HR projects.

Safety and Workers' Compensation

  • Assist with coordinating, documenting, and supporting required employee safety training.
  • Support the Human Resources Manager with workers' compensation administration and incident documentation.

General HR Support

  • Provide HR coverage and assist with day-to-day HR needs when the Human Resources Manager is unavailable.
  • Maintain confidentiality and recognize matters requiring escalation.
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, company policies, and HR procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Strong recruiting, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with employees in both office and operational environments.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office and the ability to learn HRIS, applicant tracking, and recruiting systems.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior experience in recruiting, human resources, staffing, or a related field strongly preferred.
  • Food distribution industry experience is a plus.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements

  • This position is not limited to an office environment and requires regular interaction with employees throughout company      operations, including warehouse and transportation areas.
