Support Morrison’s business operations by conducting legal review of contracts and providing practical legal advice to minimize legal risks and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. Assist internal stakeholders on legal matters related to daily operations and support the company in protecting its business interests.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review Contracts: Help review, draft, and negotiate contracts to reduce legal risks.
Make sure all contracts follow both international and local laws. - Cargo Claims: Assist the operations and sales teams with cargo claims by collecting evidence and communicating with insurance companies.
- Provide Legal Advice: Offer legal advice on issues related to shipping, logistics, and freight forwarding. Support other departments like Finance, Sales, and Operations by conducting legal research.
- Handle Disputes: Manage legal disputes and work with external lawyers when needed.
- Help find solutions through negotiation, mediation, or legal action.
- Compliance and Employment Law: Provide guidance on staying compliant with employment laws.
- Offer training to employees about company policies and legal matters.
- Risk Management: Help identify and reduce legal risks for the company’s operations
- Corporate Governance: Assist with corporate filings and governance if needed.
ESSENTIAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Technical Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B.). A lawyer’s license is preferred but not required.
Knowledge/Work Experience
- Language Skills: You need to be fluent in both English and Chinese (Mandarin), with strong written and spoken communication skills.
- Experience: At least 4 years of experience in a similar legal role, ideally in the logistics, transportation, or freight forwarding industry
