Compute Platform - Software Engineer

We are seeking a Software Engineer to work on the development of a scalable research platform that will serve as the foundation for research teams across the organization to access compute. This will involve the development of services and tools to manage job submission, scheduling, security, and observability across a range of environments with the goal of streamlining workflows, optimizing resource utilization, and lowering barriers to innovation. You’ll work at the intersection of software engineering and infrastructure, developing a platform that enables computational research at scale.

Your future role within QRT

• Design and develop libraries, APIs and services to enable researchers to utilize state-of-the-art computational resources at scale
• Implement and design software to facilitate an orchestration-driven approach to managing large compute clusters
• Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional teams to deliver a secure, integrated platform for compute access
• Exposure to the design and implementation of HPC infrastructure and tools

Your Present Skill Set

• Strong software engineering fundamentals
• 2+ years development experience writing Go
• Experience designing and implementing robust distributed systems
• Knowledge of CI/CD tools (GitLab, GitHub Actions, etc) and best-practices
• Experience designing for and integrating with modern security systems and tooling (Vault, AWS IAM, LDAP, etc)
• Experience with cloud platforms, especially AWS, to build and deploy complex applications and platforms
• Flexible in adopting new technologies and a proactive approach to continuous skill development
• Interest in computer hardware and data centres, particularly high-performance computing environments
