Position Summary
The Houseman (Houseperson) supports the housekeeping team by maintaining cleanliness in
public areas, delivering supplies, assisting room attendants, and ensuring the overall appearance
of the hotel meets brand and safety standards. This role is critical in keeping the property clean,
well-stocked, and guest-ready always on shift.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Maintain cleanliness of all public areas including hallways, lobbies, elevators, restrooms,
meeting rooms, stairwells, and back-of-house areas.
• Assist room attendants by removing trash, linen, and replacing supplies as needed.
• Deliver linens, towels, guest amenities, and cleaning supplies to room attendants
throughout the shift.
• Empty and clean housekeeping carts and storage closets at the end of each shift.
• Maintain and restock housekeeping storage rooms.
• Clean and maintain hotel entrances, glass doors, and windows.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, and spot clean carpets and floors in public spaces.
• Remove and dispose of trash and recycling from all hotel areas.
• Assist with deep cleaning projects, including shampooing carpets, moving furniture, and
cleaning walls or fixtures.
• Respond promptly to guest requests for additional items or assistance.
• Ensure safety and cleanliness standards are always followed.
• Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to supervisors immediately.
• Support set-up and breakdown of events or meeting rooms (tables, chairs, equipment).
• Adhere to proper chemical handling procedures and safety protocols.
Qualifications
• Previous housekeeping or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong time management and organization skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests and staff.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements
• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to push, pull, and lift to 40–50 lbs.
• Ability to push and pull large laundry bins
• Ability to work in various indoor and outdoor environments.
Work Environment
• Fast-paced hotel environment with frequent guest interaction.
• Requires use of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
• Must follow safety, PPE, and OSHA standards
