About Us
At HouseFacts, we're building the ultimate AI-powered home management platform. Our mission is to revolutionize how homeowners interact with and manage their properties through intelligent software that simplifies home ownership.
Through our intelligent platform, homeowners can effortlessly monitor expenses, schedule and track maintenance, catalog their belongings for insurance and organizational purposes, and manage property access through role-based permissions for household members, service providers, and guests. Everything is accessible through our web and iOS (coming soon) applications, powered by cutting-edge AI agents that create highly personalized user experiences.
The Role
As a Contract iOS Developer, you will own hands-on development of the HouseFacts iOS application in Swift/SwiftUI. The app is a consumer-facing home management tool that displays property data, documents, maintenance schedules, and notifications. You'll work alongside an existing external iOS development partner and directly with the CEO and UI/UX lead to ship features and bring the iOS app to full parity with our web platform.
This is a defined project with a clear goal: get the iOS app polished, performant, and on par with the web experience. Once parity is achieved, the role transitions to ongoing maintenance and feature support. The right person sees this arc as a feature, not a limitation. There is potential for full-time conversion depending on fit and business needs.
Engagement Details
- Type: 1099 Contract
- Location: Chicago, IL
- Duration: Initial engagement with option to extend or convert to full-time
- Rate: $55-75/hour, commensurate with experience
Core Responsibilities
- iOS Feature Development: Write production Swift/SwiftUI code for the HouseFacts iOS app. Own feature implementation from technical design through App Store submission.
- Quality and QA: Flag issues early, own QA on iOS features, and ensure the app meets quality standards before release.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work directly with the CEO (product), UI/UX lead (design via Figma), and backend services to align iOS development with company goals.
- App Store and Release Management: Own the iOS build pipeline, TestFlight distribution, and App Store submission process.
What We Are Looking For
- 3-5+ years of experience in native iOS development with shipped apps on the App Store.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI. This is a native iOS role, not React Native or Flutter.
- REST API integration experience. Comfortable consuming a FastAPI backend, handling auth, error states, and async data loading.
- Comfortable with existing codebases. Reads code before rewriting it. Can extend an app you didn't build without a full rewrite.
- Strong async data UX skills. Loading states, partial data, optimistic updates, retry patterns.
- Works well from Figma handoff without needing pixel-level implementation specs.
- US-based. Timezone alignment with the Chicago team matters.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, or similar) is a strong plus. We use these tools actively and expect our engineers to leverage them for higher throughput.
Technologies We Use
- iOS: Swift, SwiftUI
- Backend: Python, FastAPI
- Data: PostgreSQL
- Cloud and DevOps: Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Docker, GitHub
- AI Development Tools: Claude Code, Cursor
- Design: Figma
- Project Management: Notion
What We Value
- Ownership Mentality: You treat the iOS app like it's your product. You care about the end-user experience, not just closing tickets.
- Reliability and Communication: You show up, you communicate proactively, and you flag issues before they become blockers. In a hybrid, part-time setup, trust is everything.
- Practical Engineering: Clean, maintainable code that balances quality with shipping speed.
- Bias for Action: Comfortable in a fast-moving environment where rapid iteration matters.
- Honest Scope Assessment: You tell us what's realistic, not what we want to hear.
