POSITION: Home Maker FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
REPORTS TO: Home Maker Coordinator SUPERVISES: N/A

POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for helping older adults maintain a safe and clean environment by performing various housekeeping task for clients in their home.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Light Housekeeping
- Maintain cleanliness of essential parts of the home including: dusting, mopping, vacuuming, monitoring client cleaning supplies, etc.
- Cleaning and maintaining a sanitary environment including: bed making, changing linens, cleaning countertops, ensuring refrigerator is sanitary, handling trash, laundry, dishwashing, etc.
- Provides errand services including obtaining medicines and/or groceries
- Reports to Homemaker Lead
- Presentable dress and attire, scrubs are recommended
- Submittal of homemaker documentation with data collected from client and employee, all documentation will be submitted to Lead for recording and filing purposes
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to frequently lift and carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 35 pounds and to occasionally lift and carry with others equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to frequently stand, bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level and to occasionally squat, crouch, kneel and balance.
- Ability to frequently move in and out of a vehicle
- Ability to maintain safety at all times while driving and at client homes
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work in indoor and outdoor climates
- Able to safely operate a vehicle in diverse weather and road conditions
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Current driver’s license, current motor vehicle insurance and safe driving record
- Ability to read and understand street maps, GPS and familiarity with St Tammany Parish
- Ability to display tact, compassion, and understanding in dealing with people, especially with older adults

What We Do
St. Tammany Council on Aging (COAST) is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to maintaining the quality of life and community involvement for seniors aged 60 and older in St. Tammany Parish. They provide a wide range of services, including elder care, health and wellness support, and family caregiver resources, often at no cost to residents to help them maintain independence.
